Match Report

Pint-sized winger Martin Bullock returned to haunt his former team-mates as he produced a top quality pass to set-up Wycombe's first away win of the season.

Anonymous for much of the game, the 31-year-old former Premiership star produced a moment of sheer quality in the 65th minute when he curled a pin-point pass behind Macc's centre-backs for striker Scott McGleish to score his first goal of the campaign.

The win was sealed in injury time when substitute Reuben Reid jinked passed Maltese defender Luke Dimech to score his first goal in the first game of his loan period from Plymouth.

Though Macclesfield substitute Gareth Evans returned the compliment with his first goal with almost his first touch of the game, the 15-yard volley was never going to be anything more than a late consolation.

Macclesfield had only themselves to blame for surrendering their unbeaten start to the season. They dominated the first-half but fluffed a succession of chances as they took it all too easy in front of goal.

Francis Green fired into the side netting on three minutes with a powerful long-range drive, before Terry Dunfield sliced badly wide from 20 yards on seven minutes.

Unfortunately, their best chance fell to young centre-back Jimmy McNulty, who froze in front of goal in the 15th minute, fluffing a simple chance off his favoured left foot.

Macc engineered another golden opportunity five minutes later, but this time midfield man McNulty could only belt the ball straight at keeper Jamie Young.

Wycombe also had their chances, with left-winger Matt Bloomfield stepping over an open goal and striker Jermaine Easter firing straight at keeper Tommy Lee.

The Cheshire side came closest to taking the lead in first-half injury time when veteran striker Martin Gritton connected powerfully with a Kevin McIntyre free-kick, only to see the ball crash back off the crossbar.
