Match Report

Lincoln pulled off a shock win over promotion chasing Wycombe thanks to a second half goal from Anthony Elding.

City, without a home win in three months, created the better chances with a performance which was the perfect response to Saturday's 5-1 defeat at neighbours Grimsby.

In the end the home team could have won by even more against an out-of-sorts Wycombe.

Wycombe threatened early on with the pace of Jon-Paul Pittman causing the home defence plenty of problems.

Pittman left Frank Sinclair for dead after just two minutes and fired in a cross but Matt Harrold shot wide.

Then Pittman glided past Janos Kovacs and burst into the box but his powerful shot was blocked by Sinclair.

Lincoln hit back and went close on 21 minutes. Lee Beevers found skipper Scott Kerr with a neat pass and the midfielder blasted in a long range shot which Jamie Young did well to push over.

A minute later Lincoln created a great chance when a 50-yard pass from Sinclair found Kovacs unmarked inside the area. But with only the keeper to beat the big Hungarian lifted his shot high over the bar from ten yards.

Lincoln kept looking for goals and Aaron Brown shot inches wide after more good work from Kerr.

Lincoln grabbed the decisive goal four minutes after half time when Brown got clear down the left and fired in a low cross which was side-footed in by Elding.

Wycombe produced an almost instant response with a corner from Craig Woodman finding Harold unmarked at the far post but the striker smashed his shot into the side netting.

Then Sinclair was inches away from turning a cross from Lewwis Spence into his own net in a desperate attempt to clear.

Wycombe had another chance in the 62nd minute when Chris Zebroski beat four defenders but shot tamely wide.

Young saved Wycombe conceding a second goal late on when he brought off an excellent save to deny Ben Wright.
