Match Report

League Two newcomers Aldershot wrecked Wycombe's 19-game unbeaten record to move within a point of the play-offs.

In the first half, Aldershot made a mockery of Wycombe's top of the table status.

On 10 minutes, Kirk Hudson showed his class by slotting home from seven yards from Anthony Straker's cut back.

Scott Davies could have doubled the lead two minutes later when he burst through Wycombe's defence.

Scott Shearer blocked his first effort well and did enough to force Davies to shoot into the side-netting from the rebound.

On the half-hour mark, Andy Sandell broke from his own half and found Hudson with a glorious 40 yards cross-field ball.

The winger took the pass in his stride and hammered on the volley past a hapless Shearer.

In the closing moment Wycombe made their first attempt on goal when Tommy Doherty's flighted free-kick found David McCracken, but the defender's acrobatic volley failed to trouble Nikki Bull.

Peter Taylor's side were more assertive in the second half and Lewis Spence fired on the turn moments into the second period which forced Bull into a save.

Crucially on the hour-mark, Marvin Morgan was adjudged not to have been brought down from Mike Williamson's challenge by referee Keith Woolmer.

In typical fashion the league leaders sensed a shift in the momentum and seconds later Lewis Hunt headed just over at the back post, then Spence missed a great chance on the edge of the penalty area.

On 75 minutes, Hunt crossed to Angelo Balanta and from a tight angle the winger hit a beautiful rising volley past Bull.

Wycombe piled forward and Spence again went close from outside the area but Aldershot stepped up a gear and Davies fed Danny Hylton 20 yards from goal.

The Shots youth product coolly turned and drove into the top right corner to end the contest.

Wycombe pulled a goal back in injury time from a deflected Matty Phillips shot, but it was too little too late for only remaining league side with an unbeaten record.
