Match Report

New Fulham manager Roy Hodgson will be hoping to see his charges secure a first win under his stewardship when they make the short trip to Upton Park for a derby clash with West Ham United.

However, the Hammers will prove a tough nut to crack, with their last Premier League home game ending in a 2-1 victory over Manchester United.

Alan Curbishley's side are currently tenth in the table and, but for a series of injury problems, could have been higher in the standings.

Those problems have eased in recent weeks with the likes of Dean Ashton and Lee Bowyer coming back into contention, but Craig Bellamy, Kieron Dyer, Bobby Zamora and Freddie Ljungberg are definite absentees.

Summer signing Julien Faubert enjoyed a midweek reserve outing after a long-term Achilles problems, but he won't be risked against the Cottagers.

Curbishley will be hoping that his side can improve on their overall home record this season, which has seen them register just three wins out of ten league games at the Boleyn Ground.

Meanwhile, the experienced Hodgson has greater worries, with Fulham deep in relegation trouble after winning only twice in 21 league outings this term.

Last time out Fulham nearly slipped to defeat at home to Bristol Rovers in the third round of the FA Cup, hitting back to secure a 2-2 draw.

That left Hodgson to say: "Sometimes you have to look a little bit beyond results and see exactly what happened.

"I know some people will look at the result and say Fulham have been held to a draw by a League One team, but what I saw was players showing a strong attitude and commitment, a desire to try to play their way back."

Hodgson is still shorn of the services of striker Brian McBride due to a long-term knee injury, but otherwise he has few other notable absentees.

Last season's corresponding fixture ended in a thrilling 3-3 draw, with Philippe Christanval's last-minute strike rescuing a point for the Cottagers.
