Match Report

Aston Villa must put the shock and disappointment of Monday's 4-4 draw with Spurs behind them when they face mid-table West Ham United on Saturday.

Villa had been 4-1 up at White Hart Lane, but an injury-time equaliser from Younes Kaboul completed one of the most stunning comebacks in recent memory.

"Obviously we're very disappointed in the dressing room to concede the late goals, especially when we played outstandingly well," said Villa manager Martin O'Neill.

"We scored four goals away from home and that should be enough.

"It felt like a defeat on the final whistle. Not for one moment did I ever feel the game was won and we probably should have been a bit more professional.

"But we've got a young side here and we'll learn."

Villa midfielder Craig Gardner added: "We've now got to pick ourselves up and be ready for West Ham on Saturday.

"Hopefully the manager saw positives out there and there's no point blaming individuals for what happened."

At least Villa picked up no new injury worries at White Hart Lane, giving O'Neill the chance to pick the same starting eleven that scored four times in the first hour against Spurs.

West Ham had a less eventful fixture last weekend, losing 1-0 to the all-conquering Arsenal team.

They will continue to look towards Dean Ashton for goals, with the former Norwich striker's form bringing renewed calls for a place in the England squad.

The possible absence of Craig Bellamy through injury increases the pressure on Ashton and fellow striker Henri Camara.

The Welsh forward, signed from Liverpool for £7.5million in the summer, has a groin strain which has kept him from playing for the last two weeks.

His inclusion in the Wales squad, announced on Monday, brought with it a note of caution from manager John Toshack.

If heeded, Bellamy could be rested for this weekend's match.
