Key duo out for Saddlers Walsall will be without striker Jon Macken and midfielder Claude Gnakpa for the visit of Scunthorpe as they aim to arrest a three-match losing streak. Both missed Tuesday`s desperate 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Oldham due to hamstring strains, with Macken hoping to return for next Saturday`s trip to Colchester and Gnakpa targeting the home clash against Carlisle the following week. Striker Jamie Paterson is pushing for a start having impressed and scored in a behind-closed-doors 2-1 friendly triumph over Kidderminster in midweek. Captain Andy Butler and midfielder Kevan Hurst come up against their former club desperate to change the Saddlers` recent run of form, which has seen them lose to Brentford, Notts County and Oldham in successive matches. Scunthorpe boss Alan Knill is still without striker Andy Barcham when his side continue their search for a first win of the season. The forward was given a straight red card in last weekend's 1-1 draw with Sheffield United and will now serve the second match of his three-game suspension. Knill has no fresh injury worries, but is still missing a clutch of players due to injury. Jordan Robertson (ankle), Cliff Byrne (back), Michael Collins (Achilles), Josh Lillis (knee) and Matt Godden (hip) remain sidelined. The winless Iron lie in the relegation zone after five draws in their opening eight games, but Knill has backed his men to bounce back from Tuesday's 1-0 defeat at Rochdale. He said: "I believe in this group of players."

Ryan rescues Iron point A dramatic goal by substitute Jimmy Ryan in the fourth and final minute of stoppage time earned Scunthorpe a 2-2 draw at Walsall. Ryan hammered in a low shot after collecting a pass from the outstanding Mark Duffy as the Saddlers desperately tried to hang on. It was no more than Alan Knill`s side deserved after dominating the match from start to finish but the Iron are still looking for their first win after nine league games - their worst start in 37 years. Walsall took the lead after 22 minutes when Adam Chambers headed in a free-kick from Richard Taundry, although it was against the run of p Scunthorpe equalised in the 78th minute when another substitute, Garry Thompson, knocked the ball in from close range following a corner. Then, with seven minutes left, Walsall substitute Will Grigg thought he had won the game with a stunning far-post volley from Taundry's cross but Scunthorpe had other ideas and Ryan saved them in the 94th minute.
