Match Report

Michael Collins' rebirth under Huddersfield Town caretaker boss Gerry Murphy continued as he struck a dramatic stoppage-time winner.

Town were heading for another home stalemate until midfielder Collins pounced in the third minute of added time.

Huddersfield, with just two home wins behind them, looked to have been denied by a battling Walsall side, but Collins lifted their spirits again.

Collins, who barely had a chance under previous manager Stan Ternent, smashed his fourth goal in five matches for a desperately-needed victory.

Collins was groomed for stardom by Murphy, the Huddersfield Academy chief and it's clear he loves playing for the caretaker.

In a game of few chances - and seven bookings - Huddersfield went in front in the 25th minute when Collins went on a forward run.

He charged past two defenders and broke into the Walsall box only for Rhys Weston to bundle him over. Gary Roberts sent keeper Rene Gilmartin the wrong way from the spot.

Walsall didn't have a single shot on target in the first half but were level four minutes after the re-start in stunning fashion.

Alex Nicholls, part of a three-man frontline in a half-time tactical switch, produced a superb 25-yard strike to equalise out of the blue.

Huddersfield saw an Andy Butler header saved and Danny Cadamarteri's shot go well wide, before the Saddlers had a great opportunity. However Jabo Ibehre missed the target with only Alex Smithies to beat.

Huddersfield never gave up and laid siege to the visitors' goal in four minutes of added time.

Ian Craney then set up Collins, who despatched the winner into the top corner with all the confidence of a man in form.
