Match Preview
Lescott worry for Saddlers Aaron Lescott continues to be a concern for Walsall ahead of their home clash against Brentford but Andy Butler will be okay despite having a tooth knocked out in Saturday`s 2-0 defeat at Plymouth. Full-back Lescott has been sidelined with a knee ligament strain for over a month now and, although not completely ruled out of Tuesday night`s crucial clash at the Banks`s Stadium, faces a battle to make his comeback. Stalwart centre-back Butler continued to play on at Home Park on Saturday despite losing one of his teeth, and he will again be at the heart of the Saddlers' defence as they go in search of three big points to boost their relegation bid. Manager Dean Smith was left to rue a disappointing display against Plymouth and could well opt to make changes, with fit-again striker Jon Macken pushing to start in attack having only been a 54th-minute substitute at the weekend. Veteran goalkeeper Jimmy Walker is set to make his 500th senior appearance for Walsall. Toumani Diagouraga returns to the Brentford squad. The midfielder was ruled out of Saturday's 1-0 home defeat by Brentford as he served a one-match ban following his red card in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final a week earlier. Diagouraga could go straight back into the starting line-up with either Marcus Bean or Adam Reed making way. Goalkeeper Richard Lee and striker Charlie MacDonald are long-term absentees but boss Nicky Forster has an otherwise full-strength squad to choose from. Lee remains on the sidelines with a shoulder injury so youngster Simon Moore is set to keep his place with Sunderland loanee Trevor Carson on the bench. MacDonald is continuing his recovery from an ankle injury.

Match Report
Macken boosts Saddlers' survival hopes Veteran striker Jon Macken scored twice to help ease Walsall's relegation fears with a narrow 3-2 win over battling Brentford at the Banks's Stadium. The Bees were the better side in the early stages and took the lead after 30 minutes when big central defender Pim Balkestein scored with a diving header from a Sam Saunders corner. Walsall were struggling to put their passes together but got back into the match five minutes before half-time when a long clearance from Saddlers' keeper James Walker - making his 500th appearance for the club - was only partially cleared to Macken who equalised with a spectacular volley. Walsall moved in front for the first time in the 57th minute when winger Jordan Cook, on-loan from Sunderland, received from Darren Byfield and turned quickly to drive a low shot past Simon Moore, for his first goal for the club. But a mistake by Walsall defender Richard Taundry let in Lewis Grabban to equalise from an acute angle three minutes later, but within two minutes the Saddlers grabbed the winner, as Macken was on the spot to jab in his eighth of the season when a fierce cross-shot from Julian Gray was too hot for Moore to hold on to.
