Match Preview

Smith return boosts Saddlers Walsall welcome back Manny Smith from suspension for the visit of Bournemouth. The centre-back missed Monday's 2-1 defeat at Bury due to a one-match ban picked up for accumulating five bookings but returns into the fold this weekend and is likely to slot straight back into Dean Smith's XI, with stand-in Lee Beevers reverting to full-back. Fellow central defender Olly Lancashire continues to struggle with a hamstring injury which has ruled him out of the club's previous four matches and is again set to watch from the stands. Kevan Hurst returned to first-team action as a second-half substitute at Gigg Lane and the midfielder will again hope to be involved as he builds up his match fitness having recovered from a broken bone in his heel. Centre-back Steve Cook is set to make his first appearance as a fully-fledged Bournemouth player. Cook signed on at Dean Court on a full-time basis this week after spending a period on loan at the Dorset club towards the end of 2011, and the defender is likely to be drafted into the starting XI by manager Lee Bradbury at the Banks's Stadium. However, Bradbury has a string of injuries to contend with when he selects his team. Defender Adam Barrett (hamstring) and midfielder Shaun MacDonald (dead leg) will have late fitness tests before the Cherries make the trip up the M5, while Mark Molesley (hamstring), Shaun Cooper (thigh), Charlie Sheringham (foot) and Nathan Byrne (ankle) are all out. Mathieu Baudry will provide another defensive option for Bournemouth after returning from a hamstring injury but Joe Partington remains sidelined as he recovers from an ankle operation.

Match Report

Fletcher rescues Cherries Substitute Steve Fletcher's injury-time leveller helped Bournemouth recover from two goals down to claim a 2-2 draw at Walsall. Fletcher powered in a header from Simon Francis' perfect cross in the third minute of stoppage time, just when the Saddlers thought they had done enough to win. A rash challenge by Walsall defender Lee Beevers on Marc Pugh had handed the Cherries a 62nd-minute penalty, which brought them back into the game, Michael Symes smashing home the spot-kick. Walsall were all over Bournemouth in the first half and deserved their two-goal interval lead. They had an anxious moment in the 12th minute when veteran goalkeeper James Walker, equalling a club record with his 529th appearance, was shown just a yellow card for handling while on he floor outside his area. However, the Saddlers took the lead three minutes later when the outstanding Richard Taundry delivered a low cross to the feet of Jon Macken who swivelled to drill home his sixth goal of the season. And a minute before half-time, Walsall skipper Andy Butler added a second when Taundry's corner was driven into the goalmouth by Alex Nicholls, blocked on he line, and the defender headed in the rebound.
