Match Preview

Parry waits on squad Tranmere boss Les Parry will check on the fitness of several players ahead of the home clash with Leyton Orient. Parry will assess striker Enoch Showunmi's knee problem but midfielder Joss Labadie misses out through suspension. Marlon Broomes and Tim Cathalina are edging closer to full fitness after injury and John Welsh returns from suspension, while goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen is set to make his second appearance in a Tranmere shirt after recovering from a shoulder injury. Parry will also assess a number of other knocks, although he admitted the cold snap had not helped their cause. He said: "Players are ready to train but haven't trained. So although they are over their injuries they still need to get some training time under their belts." Leyton Orient will be without their central-defensive pairing Ben Chorley and Terrell Forbes. The duo are suspended after they were sent off during Tuesday night's extraordinary 8-2 FA Cup replay win over non-league Droylsden. Chorley sits out a one-match ban after picking up two yellow cards while Forbes will miss three games for a straight red. Aaron Brown will fill one of the gaps at the back while Brighton loanee Andrew Whing, who was ineligible to play in the cup, could come in at right-back with Elliot Omozusi moving across to the centre. Midfielder Adam Chambers is still recovering from surgery on his calves and goalkeeper Jamie Jones is out after a hernia op.

Match Report

Orient edge out Tranmere Leyton Orient held off a second-half fightback from Tranmere to secure a 2-1 win at Prenton Park. The visitors went ahead in the 10th minute when skipper Stephen Dawson fired into the top-right corner after Rovers failed to clear the ball properly. Then in first-half stoppage time Orient doubled their lead when Scott McGleish found the back of the net. Scott Wootton pulled a goal back for Les Parry's side but Orient held on for three precious points. After Dawson opened the scoring Tranmere should have been level five minutes later when Ian Thomas-Moore set Enoch Showunmi clear but keeper Jason Brown made a fine blocking save. Orient looked dangerous on the break and it needed a sharp save by Gunnar Nielson to deny Paul M'Poku in the 32nd minute. Then Disaster struck in first-half added time for Rovers when Nielsen spilled a shot by M'Poku presenting McGleish with an easy finish. A fingertip save by Nielsen denied Matt Spring a third for Orient six minutes into the second half. Tranmere were back in contention in the 61st minute as Wootton turned an Aaron Cresswell free-kick past an unsighted Brown. Then Brown produced a tremendous reaction save to deny Dale Jennings an equaliser. Showunmi was next to be thwarted by the alert keeper, who then saved brilliantly from a misplaced header by his own man Aaron Brown. Tranmere were again out of luck after 84 minutes when an Ian Goodison shot hit the bar.
