Parry eyes fitness boost Tranmere boss Les Parry is hoping to have Mark McChrystal and Andy Robinson available for the home clash with high-flying Huddersfield. Defender McChrystal is nursing a hamstring injury and winger Robinson was forced off during the first half of Monday`s goalless draw at Oldham with a groin strain. Parry is hopeful that both men will be passed fit to face the Terriers but veteran centre-back Ian Goodison begins a two-match ban after picking up his 10th booking of the season at Boundary Park. The Jamaican is now ruled out against Huddersfield and the away fixture at Sheffield Wednesday. Tim Cathalina is set to miss out with an Achilles injury but Rovers have no other major concerns. Scotland international Gary Naysmith will miss out again as Huddersfield look to extend their unbeaten league run to 19 matches. Defender Naysmith, who has made only eight league appearances for the Terriers since arriving from Sheffield United in the summer, is struggling with a new knee injury. Goalkeeper Alex Smithies also remains sidelined with the knee injury that forced him to withdraw from the England Under-21s squad, so Ian Bennett will continue. Defender Antony Kay is fit again after missing the last four games with an ankle injury and is hoping to be included in the squad, while manager Lee Clark has no other new injury or suspension problems. Winger Anthony Pilkington (leg/ankle) and midfielder Damien Johnson (knee) are are ruled out for the rest of the season.

Match Report

Terriers march on Promotion-chasing Huddersfield extended their unbeaten run to 19 games with a 2-0 win at Tranmere. But Rovers made them work hard for the three points which came courtesy of goals from Benik Afobe and sub Lee Novak. Joey Gudjonsson volleyed wide early on for Town who lost Liam Ridehalgh through injury after only 11 minutes with Jack Hunt taking over. Zoumane Bakayogo tested Terriers keeper Ian Bennett with a smart shot midway through the opening half. But Town made the break through after 38 minutes when Kevin Kilbane hit a post from a Gary Roberts corner before Afobe turned the ball home in the scramble which followed. Subsitute Adam McGurk wasted a golden opportunity for the Merseysiders after 71 minutes when he failed to get a touch to an Enoch Showunmi cross in front of a gaping goal. And Town made them pay in the 87th minute when Novak collected a long upfield ball from Lee Peltier and rounded Tony Warner to net with an angled shot.
