Match Report
Jo Kuffour's first-half goal set up a Bristol Rovers win after a barren month which had brought them just two points from five games.
It also brought a special celebration for the 27-year-old striker, his first home goal to go with three away since leaving Bournemouth in September.
It came with Rickie Lambert seeing a penalty appeal ignored and Tranmere's goalkeeper Danny Coyne chasing the ball along the byline.
He was beaten to it by Craig Disley who pushed the ball back past him for Kuffour to squeeze it in at the post.
Tranmere had looked the more confident side with back Andy Taylor behind some enterprising raids down the left flank, but worse was to come for them.
At the start of the second half defenders were guilty of standing off from a tackle as Chris Lines took a short pass from Kuffour to set off on a 45-yard solo run. His finish was equally brisk.
In the next few minutes Coyne made a great one handed save from Kuffour and watched gratefully as Disley sent a shot thundering off the bar.
Then only a late interception by John Johnson prevented Jeff Hughes putting the result beyond the visitors reach as he cut sharply into the six-yard area.
Tranmere's manager Ronnie Moore responded to a traumatic spell by freshening up his attack with Terry Gornell and Chris Shuker.
Edrissa Sonko, a lively raider early on down the left, was one of those taken off as Tranmere looked for more of an end product.
But their shots were rare. Ian Moore went close with a dipping header before Steve Phillips in the home goal had to make his first save in the 76th minute diving to his right to hold a shot from Steve Jennings.
