Match Preview

Parry waits on pair Tranmere boss Les Parry will assess the fitness of Ian Goodison and Andy Robinson ahead of Brentford's visit to Prenton Park. Defender Goodison came off the bench to score as Rovers threatened a late comeback in the 2-1 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday but aggravated a pre-existing hamstring injury, while Robinson has recently been laid low with food poisoning. Parry told Tranmere Player: "Goody is hopefully going to train with us on Friday. I'm not quite sure about him to be honest. "Andy was quite poorly for a couple of days and I think illness takes more out of players than injuries. He only trained for the first time on Thursday so we'll have to have a look at him and see how he is. Midfielder Martin Devaney is another illness victim and will miss out following a bout of chickenpox. Devaney is expected to be joined on the sidelines by striker Enoch Showunmi, who is continuing his recovery from a badly bruised leg. Piero Mingoia could make his Brentford debut. The 20-year-old winger has joined the Bees on an initial month-long loan from Watford and will be added to the squad which travels to the Wirral. Boss Uwe Rosler rotated his squad over new year so Shaleum Logan, Sam Saunders, Gary Alexander and Jake Bidwell are pushing for recalls after they dropped out of the starting line-up for the 2-0 defeat by leaders Charlton. Left-back Bidwell's loan spell from Everton was due to expire after the match but he has agreed to stay in west London for another month. Defender Karleigh Osborne (dead leg) will be checked over but club captain Kevin O'Connor (ankle) remains on the sidelines.

Match Report

Bees stung by Dean own goal Harlee Dean's own goal denied Brentford a first win in five matches as Tranmere claimed a 2-2 draw in a see-saw npower League One clash at Prenton Park. The hosts had the perfect start with Martin Devaney blasting home from Jose Baxter's cross in the fourth minute but the Rovers midfielder was cautioned for his celebrations. Dean had no joy with three headed efforts for Brentford and then Sam Saunders missed the target after a part clearance. Bees goalkeeper Richard Lee saved well from Mustafa Tiryaki's 25-yard strike before the visitors levelled after 22 minutes. Gary Alexander hit the target as Tranmere failed to deal with a right-wing cross by Clayton Donaldson. Brentford went ahead 10 minutes later with Alexander this time turning provider for Donaldson to power a right foot shot out of the reach of keeper Paul Rachubka. Rachubka did well to turn aside a Donaldson strike moments after half-time, however. It became 2-2 on 55 minutes with Dean unlucky to deflect a cross by Danny Holmes out of the reach of Lee for an own goal. Dean almost made amends in the 80th minute but his shot was blocked on the line by Ash Taylor.
