Match Report

Sunday's London derby between West Ham United and Tottenham brings together two clubs looking to build on recent good results.

The Hammers thrashed Derby County 5-0 at Pride Park two weeks ago as Alan Curbishley's side moved into the top half of the Premier League table.

That result extended West Ham's unbeaten run in all competitions to five matches, coming on the back of a victory against Sunderland and draws with Portsmouth and Bolton in the league, and a Carling Cup success at Coventry City.

Meanwhile, Spurs appear to have been boosted by Juande Ramos' arrival at White Hart Lane having won three and drawn one of their last four matches.

Victories in the Carling Cup, against Blackpool, and UEFA Cup, over Hapoel Tel Aviv, have helped to bring renewed optimism to the Spurs faithful, as have a Premier League draw at Middlesbrough and 4-0 thrashing of Wigan Athletic.

That has given the club some breathing space, although they are still only three points above the relegation zone after over a third of the campaign.

Ramos is once again expected to be without Ledley King, Benoit Assou-Ekotto (both knee), Anthony Gardner (ankle), Gareth Bale and Ricardo Rocha (both foot), while West Ham's injury list shows some signs of shortening.

Curbishley could be boosted by the return of Dean Ashton, Freddie Ljungberg, Hayden Mullins and Mark Noble, while Scott Parker has finally returned to training after playing just 45 minutes of Premier League football this term following his summer arrival from Newcastle United.

Bobby Zamora has missed the last 11 games because of a knee problem, but could return to action in early December, while long-term injury victims Julien Faubert and Kieron Dyer will not begin their comebacks until the new year.

In March at Upton Park, Spurs won a thriller 4-3, a result at the time that appeared to have consigned the Hammers to the drop.

However, they won seven of their last nine matches to ensure they stayed up and Sheffield United were relegated.
