Match Report

Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate will be able to call on the services of Jeremie Aliadiere on Saturday after fears that the former Arsenal striker had suffered a recurrence of his hamstring injury were allayed.

The Frenchman had to be substituted early in the second half against Manchester United last weekend after scoring Boro's goal in the 4-1 defeat at Old Trafford.

There were concerns that Aliadiere had injured the same hamstring that had kept him out for over a month, but it has been confirmed that he was only suffering from cramp.

Emanuel Pogatetz remains on the sidelines following knee surgery but hopes to return to action against Aston Villa later in November.

The 24-year-old defender has not made an appearance for the Teessiders this season following the summer operation.

Robert Huth (ankle) and Julio Arca (knee ligaments) remain several weeks away from a return to action, while Mido is a doubt for Saturday's match because of a hamstring problem.

Boro go into the game only one point above the relegation zone after losing five of their last six league matches, conceding 16 goals and scoring only four in the process.

They face opponents at the Riverside Stadium though who are in equally poor form, although Spurs will be desperate to give new coach Juande Ramos a victory in his first Premier League game in charge of the club.

Spurs have won only one league game all season - against rock-bottom Derby County - and have failed to secure three points in any of their last eight matches.

On their travels they have drawn three and lost three of their six games, with their loss at Newcastle United last time out proving to be Martin Jol's final Premier League game in charge.

Gareth Bale (foot), Anthony Gardner (ankle), Ledley King (knee) and Ricardo Rocha (ankle) are once again expected to miss out.

Last season Spurs returned to the capital with all three points after securing a 3-2 win on Teesside thanks to a Robbie Keane brace and a third goal from Dimitar Berbatov.
