Wonderful interplay between Ronaldo and Tevez but the final ball is overhit and the danger passes for Spurs.

Jermaine Jenas slides the ball into Robbie Keane in the box. Keane is denied by Van der Sar who makes an excellent one-on-one save to deny the Irishman.

Man United are on cruise control. Paul Scholes plays a raking pass into Rooney running in behind but the striker's touch evades him and Gomes collects.

Rooney picks up the ball in the Spurs half and surges towards goal but gets forced wide. Rooney looks up and tries a cheeky lob towards the back post but Gomes back pedals to make the save.

Rooney picks the pocket of Palacios and tries to race forward and launch a counter attack but is dispossessed by Corluka and Spurs retake possession.

Carrick picks out Rafael on the right hand side and the full-back crosses towards Ronaldo but it is a fraction too high and Tottenham clear through Corluka.

A controversial penalty decision has dragged United back into this game. Can the defending champions claw their way back into this match up?

Darren Bent has gone down after an aerial challenge from Nemanja Vidic. The replays suggest Bent turned his knee as he fell and he looks in some discomfort.

Tottenham will be content to see this one through to half time with their lead intact. Palacios picks the ball up just outside the edge of the box and strikes towards the corner but it is always rising over the bar.

Nani and Fletcher link up on the edge of the box and Nani strikes it but Corluka makes the block and it falls kindly for Spurs and they clear.

Carrick nods the ball into the path of Rooney who shoots from a tight angle and again Gomes has to make the save but his fumble falls for Woodgate who clears.

Rafael comes inside from the right hand side and drives into the space to strike from range. The full-back hits is well and forces a save from Gomes.

The frustration growing from the home fans as Tottenham look set to blow the title race back open. United need to respond, and quickly.

United are up against it now and they will now how important it is that they respond positively to the disappointment of going behind.

Nani's cross finds Berbatov who miscontrols the ball but it drops for Fletcher who swings a leg at the ball but Assou-Ekotto makes a crucial block. United starting to assert some dominance now.

Nani wins a free-kick in a central position in what would be described as 'Ronaldo range' - He strikes it well but it is blocked by the jumping edge of the wall.

Nani and Evra work the left hand side and Nani delivers left-footed across the six yard box and Ronaldo rises to meet the ball but heads wide of the mark. That's a chance by Ronaldo's standards.

Patient build up from Spurs but having worked a good position in United territory Palacios surrenders possession rather cheaply and the effort is wasted.

Berbatov takes a blow from Jenas with a loose arm. Ronaldo will strike from a good 35 yards - He strikes it well and it dips and skids of the surface and Gomes can only parry gently but he gathers before Rooney can get there.

The low sunlight will certainly be a factor in this first half. Spurs will look to test Van der Sar with the high ball as the keeper stares into the setting sun. No doubt that is why King turned the sides at the coin toss.

Modric turns inside Rafael and crosses but Vidic flicks it away only as far as Lennon. Lennon volleys it back across the edge of the box but the young Rafael steps in to clear.

Nani shoots from long range after turning away from Assou-Ekotto but he misses the target by high and wide.

Dimitar Berbatov does well to run the ball from deep in his own half to win a throw-in in the Tottenham half. There is an undercurrent of boo's everytime the former Spurs man gets on the ball coming from the visiting supporters.

Berbatov and Fletcher link up with some neat passing on the edge of the box and Rooney picks up the ball but as he tries to work it onto his right-foot Corluka gets back to make the tackle.

Ronaldo works the ball to Rafael on the right who has time to pick out a cross and he plays a good ball towards Rooney but Corluka does enough to stop the forward getting on the end of it and the danger passes.

Aaron Lennon picks out Bent with a deep cross towards the striker who had pealed away from his marker and headed against Van der Sar and Tottenham have a corner.

Again Rafael Da Silva plays a clever ball into Fletcher who had got ahead of Nani on the right hand side but as he reached the by-line Fletcher got too much on the cross and it sailed over everyone.

Ronaldo sets out on a roaming run in from the left hand side and plays a nice one-two with Nani but Spurs get numbers back quickly to crowd out the danger inside their own box.

Lennon finds space on the right hand side as he raced down the touch line before steering the ball into the space in the area but Robbie Keane hadn't gambled on the ball and it rolls for a goal kick.

Incisive early play as Rafael slides Fletcher into the channel and the Scottsman rolled it on to try and find Berbatov but Gomes beat the striker to the ball.
