Live Commentary

90mins

Full Time: HULL CITY 1-2 TOTTENHAM. Spurs hang on for a crucial three points, which seemed unlikely in the first period. The win leaves Tottenham just one point behind Hull in the table.

89mins

There is going to be four minutes of stoppage time and most of that added-on time will be in the Spurs half!

88mins

Goalscorer Woodgate gets a nasty looking cut to the head and is replaced by Michael Dawson, who will face his brother after all.

87mins

Spurs now make a change as Didier Zokora comes on in place of Aaron Lennon.

86mins

A last change for Hull as they seek a late response, as Geovanni comes on for Zayatte.

85mins

Another set-piece leads to what looks like a winning goal from WOODGATE. The ball is switched to the left and Assou-Ekotto's cross is headed home brilliantly by the former Leeds man.

82mins

A nasty clash of heads leads to a stop in play as Pavlyuchenko collides with Andy Dawson, who looks like he won't go head-to-head with brother Michael, who remains on the Spurs bench.

79mins

The on-loan Goncalves Manucho is the second change for Hull, as the striker replaces the hard-working Garcia.

77mins

Nearly a kiss off death from me as now Hull hit the woodwork. A corner is headed goalwards by Zayette and although Cudicini is beaten, the ball strikes the far post and Spurs clear.

75mins

This has turned from an entertaining game to a scrappy affair and neither team look like getting a winner.

73mins

The first substitution now from Harry Redknapp, with replaces Darren Bent with Roman Pavlyuchenko.

72mins

Hull now look like a side who would take a point, which would keep them four points ahead of Tottenham.

68mins

The first change of the game is made by Phil Brown, as Bernard Mendy comes on to replace Daniel Cousin.

67mins

Ohhh, Spurs hit the woodwork as their two Croatian stars combine. Modric's cross is headed against the bar by Corluka.

65mins

Marney sends a deep cross towards the on-rushing Kilbane, but his header tamely finds the side netting when a nod across goal could have led to a chance for Hull.

63mins

Lennon breaks away again down the right, but again the cross is poor and easily headed away at the near post by Ricketts.

61mins

Spurs have enjoyed the better of the second half so far and they are threatening in and around the Hull box, but have not created anything clear-cut yet.

58mins

Yet another corner is worked short by Spurs but first a cross is blocked and then Jenas' follow-up is also charged down by the Hull defence.

55mins

Duke slips over as he tries to clear the ball and Keane tries to lob the keeper from close range, but the striker gets it wrong and the ball dribbles well wide.

54mins

There's already been about 5 or 6 corners in the second half and I think we've established that neither of these teams can defend set-pieces!

52mins

Zayatte gives the ball away to Keane, the Spurs skipper's cross picks out Wilson Palacios and his goal-bound thunderbolt is blocked brilliantly by Gardner.

50mins

I'd love to know if Spurs work on defending set-pieces! Another corner causes chaos in their penalty area and they are lucky to eventually scramble the ball clear.

49mins

Good effort from Bent, who has been one of Spurs better players tonight. The striker spins and shoots from the angle and forces Matt Duke to gather diving to his right.

47mins

Spurs work another short corner, which Hull don't seem to have picked up on...why??? Lennon's cross though is headed away by Turner.

45mins

No changes for either side at the break but its Spurs who need to up their game if they are to get anything from this crunch clash.

45mins

Half Time: HULL CITY 1-1 TOTTENHAM. It's level at the break, but Hull will feel they should be in front after having the best of the play. Spurs know a big improvement is needed in the second half.

44mins

Dawson tries his luck with a bending free-kick but it floats well over and Spurs will breath a big sigh of relief.

44mins

The second caution of the game, as Modric goes into the book for a cynical trip of Kilbane as he broke towards the edge of the Spurs box.

42mins

Garcia has caused Spurs problems in this first half, the former Colchester man has been a handful for Woodgate and King.

40mins

Great run again from Ricketts, who plays it out wide to Marney before heading the cross wide after continuing his surge forward.

39mins

Modric mut be so frustrating for Harry Redknapp, a brilliant bit of skill gets him inside the penalty area but the Croatian then fires his cross into the legs of Dawson and the chance goes begging.

37mins

Assou-Ekotto does well to back track and block the attempted cross by Sam Ricketts, who I have just learned is the nephew of legendary jockey John Francome!

35mins

Another half chance to Hull, but Garcia can't quite connect with a difficult volley after the ball drops over his shoulder.

32mins

Marney is causing his old club some problems and his cross from the right is well gathered by the stooping Cudicini.

30mins

This time it's Hull who don't defend a set-piece well, but Woodgate can only divert the cross over the bar as the ball lands quickly at his feet.

28mins

The confidence is back in the Tigers and Cousin's long-range effort whistle's just over the bar.

26mins

Successive corners for the home side. Cudicini flaps away the first and then drops a clanger with the second, and TURNER prods home from close range to equalise.

23mins

The Hull fans and team look deflated by that goal and having been on top, they now have it all to do to improve on their poor home form this season.

21mins

Spurs break quickly again and Ian Ashbee is forced to bring down Keane, with the Hull man fortunate not to get a yellow card.

18mins

Almost a quick response from Hull but Cudicini is out quickly to dive at the feet of Kamil Zayatte and Spurs clear the danger.

17mins

Spurs have the lead against the run of play but what a strike by LENNON. Modric works a short corner with Keane, lays it into the path of Lennon and the England star fires into the top corner from the edge of the box.

16mins

Bent shows some great pace on the break for Spurs, but fair play to Gardner who gets back at the striker and slides the ball out for a corner.

14mins

Almost a comedy goal, as Carlo Cudicini comes out to collect the ball but doesn't shout to Jonathan Woodgate, who heads past the keeper but Cudicini is able to get back towards his goal and gather.

12mins

Vedran Corluka is forced to head behind for a Hull corner, with Kevin Kilbane looking to latch onto a Dean Marney cross.

10mins

There must be a competition going on between Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Everton's Marouane Fellaini for the biggest hair in the Premier League!

9mins

First corner of the game for Spurs, but Modric's set-piece is not the best and Hull head clear at the near post.

7mins

First booking of the game, as Dawson brings down Aaron Lennon. That yellow means the full-back will miss the next game for Hull against Fulham.

6mins

Its been a good start from the home side and their tails are up. Spurs look they have just woken up after a sleep on the coach trip.

4mins

Really poor marking by Spurs from the corner, Anthony Gardner is on his own at the back post but nobody can get on the end of his pull-back and Andy Dawson's follow-up shot is goes out for a throw in!

Match Preview

Hull City will be hoping to arrest their alarming slide towards the relegation places when they play host to lowly Tottenham Hotspur.

The Tigers started their first season in the English top-flight in superb style, but have faded miserably in recent weeks, having won only one of their last 16 Premier League games.

Their plight has been further hampered this week by the news that record signing Jimmy Bullard is out for the rest of the season after flying to the United States for treatment on renewed knee problems.

City boss Phil Brown admitted that it been a gamble to sign the midfielder in a £5million deal from Fulham, telling the Hull Daily Mail: "We've got to make big decisions, but I don't think taking a chance on Jimmy Bullard was a big decision.

"Jimmy came to us with an injury that happened 18 months previously and having recovered from it by playing 50 games."

Knee problems will also keep George Boateng out for several more weeks, while striker Daniel Cousin is also likely to miss out.

Visiting Spurs are currently four points worse off than the Tigers, having failed to pull clear of trouble despite the arrival of new manager Harry Redknapp in mid-season.

However, the north London side have only lost one of their last four league games and last time out secured a goalless draw at home to deadly rivals Arsenal.

Spurs are currently without Ledley King, Alan Hutton and Jamie O'Hara, while striker Jermain Defoe is a major doubt due to an ankle problem.

King is close to a return after hamstring problems, but Redknapp is likely to hold the defender back for the Carling Cup Final against Manchester United a week on Sunday.

He told Sky Sports: "I'm hopeful he'll be okay. It's sort of day-to-day. We're just hoping that he continues his recovery.

"We'll monitor it ahead of the weekend and we'll see how he looks next week."

Match Report

Tottenham Hotspur took all three points to claim their third away victory of the season against a frustrated Hull City side at the KC Stadium.

Spurs took the lead in the first half through Aaron Lennon, but an equaliser from Hull's Michael Turner saw the scores level at half-time, then with minutes left Jonathan Woodgate rose highest to seal the win for for Harry Redknapp's side.

The visitors were in front on 17minutes as from a short corner Luka Modric squared the ball to Lennon on the edge of the box, who had time and space to pick out the top corner with a curling right-foot effort.

Phil Brown's men were then back on level terms thanks to lacklustre defending from Spurs. Andy Dawson whipped in an inswinging corner from the right which saw the ball escape the hands of Carlo Cudicini, bounce off Wilson Palacios and land at the feet of Turner, who made no mistake from close range to register his fourth league goal of the season.

Darren Bent created a chance for himself early in the second half but his turn and shot from 20 yards was comfortably saved by keeper Matt Duke.

Palacios was next to try his luck for Tottenham as Robbie Keane spotted the run of the Honduras international on the edge of the box, but the midfielder's blistering first-time effort was well blocked by ex-Spurs centre-back Anthony Gardner.

Redknapp's men then came within inches of re-taking the lead as a curling free-kick from Modric found the head of Vedran Corluka inside the box, whose powering effort from six yards sent the ball crashing on to and over the Hull crossbar.

Kamil Zayatte then struck the woodwork for Hull as a left-foot corner from Dawson was met by the head of the Tigers defender, but his glancing effort from eight yards smacked against the right-hand post.

Spurs regained the lead with five minutes left on the clock as Benoit Assou-Ekotto swung in a cross from the left towards the towering Woodgate, who nodded the ball with precision past keeper Duke and into the top left-hand corner from six yards.
