Spurs ready to make concessions
Tim Sherwood does not care if Tottenham concede another three goals this weekend as long as they outscore embattled Fulham.
This has been a tumultuous season for those connected with Spurs, with the optimism brought by a flurry of high-profile summer signings quickly extinguished.
Poor performances saw Andre Villas-Boas replaced by Sherwood in December, although he may well soon find himself evicted from the White Hart Lane hot-seat.
If Sherwood departs this summer, one of the hallmarks of his stay will be the poor manner in which Spurs have started matches - epitomised last weekend when they had to battle back from conceding three goals in the opening 31 minutes to grab a 3-3 draw at West Brom.
Sherwood has vowed to work on the sluggish starts but his mantra is to entertain fans and if that means conceding goals then so be it.
"We hope they come flying out of the blocks and we score more than them, because it is still three points," the head coach said ahead of Fulham's visit.
"We don't want to do what we did against West Brom, but if we have to score four and they score three then I'm happy.
"The duty of care comes towards our fans, and playing for the shirt of the club, not worrying about anybody else.
"They've got themselves into that situation because they haven't been great, and that's the bottom line.
"The league doesn't lie after 38 games and where you are is where you deserve to be.
"We're going to be professional and we're going to try to go there and entertain our fans and we're going to attack.
"That's what we've done ever since I've come to the club and that's what we're going to continue to do."
Mousa Dembele's return from a hip complaint is the only good news on the injury front for Spurs heading into Saturday's match.
Defenders Jan Vertonghen, Kyle Walker and Michael Dawson remain absent, as do summer signings Erik Lamela, Roberto Soldado and Etienne Capoue.
Fulham boss Felix Magath has been consulting Lewis Holtby for advice on Tottenham.
Magath sees no problem in securing inside information on opponents and refuses to criticise Crystal Palace for allegedly trying to obtain Cardiff's starting line-up before their match on April 5.
The German rejects calls to have the game replayed and revealed he has been speaking to Holtby, who is ruled out of Saturday due to the terms of his loan agreement from Spurs, over what to expect.
"I always ask the players - John Heitinga against Everton and now Lewis against Tottenham," he said.
"Sure I ask Lewis how he sees the situation, how a certain player is, but it is not the only one kind of information I will get. I try to get all the information I can get.
"You try to get any information you can get. I'll try also to get any information from Tottenham for Saturday.
"It is always a problem if you are not careful with information. Maybe it happens some time.
"I think Tottenham will also try to get information from us, you can not blame anyone for trying to get information. If you are lucky you can, so it is good."
Club-record signing Kostas Mitroglou remains sidelined with a knee injury, but is expected to return against Hull the following weekend.
