Match Report

It has been quite a week for Tottenham Hotspur's teenager striker John Obika.

On Wednesday he made his debut for England's Under-19s against the Czech Republic, being preferred to Manchester United's Danny Wellbeck.

On Saturday he scored his first goal at senior level to give Yeovil a slender win in their relegation battle against west country rivals Swindon and reward new manager Terry Skiverton with his first victory at the eighth attempt.

Obika was one of three Spurs youngsters in a new-look Yeovil team and the trio all played significant roles. Full-back Danny Hutchins busied himself all afternoon and, on the wing, Andros Townsend went away clutching the man-of-the-match trophy.

Swindon have been on a roll recently, securing three successive victories, and their top-scorer, Simon Cox, was looking to add to his three hat-tricks. He had his chances, particularly in the second half, but for once the golden touch eluded him.

Swindon lost two players with injuries in the first 25 minutes, Sean Morrison going off following a crunching tackle and he was followed in the 22nd minute by Hal Robson-Kanu, who had hamstring trouble.

Robson-Kanu brought a great save from goalkeeper Chris Weale before his departure, but Yeovil were also busy at the other end and grabbed the lead in the 33rd minute.

A delightful move down the right ended with Paul Warren flicking the ball to Obika. He spotted goalkeeper Phil Smith off his line and lobbed him neatly.

In the second half, Cox had two good chances to add to his goal tally, which currently stands at 24 for the season. On the hour, Weale saved with his knees when the striker was clean through and when Cox had a clear heading chance in the 71st minute, he inexplicably put it wide.
