Frampton in Robins frame
Andy Frampton could well start against Tranmere while new signing Aden Flint may also be involved as Swindon boss Danny Wilson looks to shore up his leaky defence.
Town`s rearguard has been their downfall so often this season and it was again the case on Saturday as Bristol Rovers claimed derby bragging rights with a 3-1 victory, leading to Wilson`s damning assessment of his backline.
And the Robins boss may well have refreshing options for what he describes as "a massive game" against a Tranmere side just one place and one point above fifth-bottom Swindon in the table.
Frampton returned to full training on Monday morning and is nearing full fitness after a groin strain, while Flint will also be in contention for his debut should Football League clearance arrive in time following Friday`s switch from non-league Alfreton Town.
Elsewhere, left-back Michael Rose serves the second game of his three-match suspension while goalkeeper David Lucas remains sidelined with his knee injury but is making good progress.
Tranmere will be without injured centre-back Marlon Broomes.
Broomes, who has struggled with injuries all season and has made only five league appearances, made his return from a calf strain in Saturday's impressive 2-0 win over Southampton, but lasted only 24 minutes before being stretchered off with ligament damage and is set for a scan which is expected to rule him out for at least least two months.
Rovers boss Les Parry told the club's official website: "The initial diagnosis is that he's snapped his medial collateral ligament. If that is correct, and at the moment that's the best case scenario, he's going to be out for a couple of months."
Young defender Nick Wood came on to replace Broomes at the weekend and after impressing should be handed a start.
Defensive trio Tim Cathalina, Max Blanchard and Ian Goodison will again be missing as they continue to struggle with their respective knee problems.
Ivorian full-back Zoumana Bakayogo is also still sidelined, after being absent from the Saints game with a foot injury he picked up in the 2-0 defeat at MK Dons on January 15, but he should return for the home game with Rochdale next week.
Pressure mounts on Wilson
A missed penalty from Charlie Austin increased the pressure on Swindon manager Danny Wilson as the Robins drew 0-0 at home with Tranmere and failed to win for the fifth game in a row.
Both teams still sit perilously above the relegation zone after a game with few chances, but Rovers manager Les Parry will be the happier.
After a quiet opening period, the game sprung into life after 19 minutes. Tranmere's Ross Labadie inexplicably dribbled the ball back into his own penalty box and with Michael Timlin putting pressure on him, the Tranmere player conceded what looked like a harsh penalty.
Austin, with a posse of scouts watching on, stepped up, but on-loan goalkeeper Tony Warner kept the Robins striker out.
Parry's men nearly made Austin pay when Lateef Elford-Alliyu drove into the Robins penalty box and fired a low cross which cannoned off the left-hand post and away to safety.
The second half was a disappointment with neither side threatening in front of goal. Austin nearly made amends for his penalty miss in the last minute as he rattled the crossbar from a tight angle and Robins goalkeeper Phil Smith produced a fine save to keep out Adam McGurk in injury time.
