Match Preview

Swindon welcome back David Prutton for the derby clash against Bristol Rovers.

The midfielder has missed the last two games through suspension having been given his marching orders against Plymouth - his second red card of the season - and he is likely to go straight back into Danny Wilson`s starting XI.

Centre-back Scott Cuthbert will be assessed ahead of kick-off having gone off midway through the first half of Tuesday`s Johnstone`s Paint Trophy win over Torquay complaining of dizziness, a reaction which carried over from a bang to his head against Dagenham last weekend.

His potential absence could leave the Robins light at the back with fellow defenders Alan Sheehan, Lecsinel Jean-Francois (both hamstring) and Callum Kennedy (ankle) already sidelined, along with star striker Charlie Austin (shoulder).

Midfielder Paul Caddis and striker Thomas Dossevi remain on international duty with Scotland`s Under-21s and Togo`s senior squad respectively.

On-loan wide man Matt Ritchie could make his league debut having impressed in the 2-0 midweek cup win following his switch from Portsmouth.

Bristol Rovers boss Paul Trollope expects to have striker Jo Kuffour available. Kuffour is recovering from the effects of a virus and was replaced during Tuesday's victory over Aldershot but is set to be passed fit.

The Pirates are further boosted by the return of midfielder Chris Lines after he served a one-match ban in midweek.

Lines, who has been shown five yellow cards in 10 games, could go straight back into the starting line-up.

Last season Rovers beat Swindon 3-0 at the Memorial Stadium in December and recorded a 4-0 romp at the County Ground three months later.

Trollope told the club's official website: "We have the belief that we can go there and win."

Match Report

Pericard helps Robins to victory Vincent Pericard scored his fifth goal of the season to help Swindon to a narrow 2-1 win over Bristol Rovers and end the Robins' two-match winless run in the league. Pericard's header from Simon Ferry's cross twelve minutes into the second half lifted Swindon to within two points of the play-off places. Both sides were denied by the woodwork in an entertaining first half, with Swindon striker David Ball heading against the crossbar in the 24th minute. Moments later Rovers midfielder Jeff Hughes saw his left foot curler from fully 20 yards rebound off a post. Last season's beaten play-off finalists took the lead on the stroke of half time as defender Sean Morison nodded in Michael Rose's centre. Rovers were given a glimmer of hope in the dying seconds after Chris Lines had been tripped by Swindon goalkeeper David Lucas and Hughes stepped up to slam home the resulting penalty. However, it was not enough to save the Pirates from their fourth defeat of the season.
