Match Preview

Benson set for Robins debut Paul Benson could make his Swindon debut against AFC Wimbledon on Monday. The 32-year-old striker became Paolo Di Canio's first January signing, penning a two-and-a-half-year contract from Charlton. However, Benson may have to settle for a place on the bench. Substitute Alan Connell came on to score in the 2-1 win over Northampton and is pushing for a start. Di Canio will be without the services of Oliver Risser, who was dismissed late on in the game at Sixfields for violent conduct, and, as a result, will serve a three-match suspension. Loanees Wes Foderingham and Ronan Murray are both options at Di Canio's disposal, while midfielder Simon Ferry will be hoping for a promotion to the starting line-up. AFC Wimbledon will be without Christian Jolley and Luke Moore. Striker Jolley made his first league appearance in 10 weeks after a hamstring injury against Southend on Saturday, but his comeback lasted only 45 minutes before he was sent off and he now faces a three-match ban. Winger Moore will also miss out after suffering concussion in a collision with the advertising hoardings during the 4-1 defeat. Boss Terry Brown hopes to sign a new forward to boost his depleted attacking options in time for the clash. On-loan West Ham centre-half Callum McNaughton is fit again after a knee injury and could return along with left-back Gareth Gwillim, who was unwell on Saturday.

Match Report

Robins run goes on Goals from Paul Caddis and Alan Connell gave Swindon a comfortable 2-0 victory over struggling AFC Wimbledon in npower League Two. The Robins found themselves frustrated by a stubborn Dons defence until Caddis broke the deadlock with his third goal of the season on 58 minutes. Caddis fired a fierce 22-yard free kick under the Dons wall, which goalkeeper Seb Brown could only parry off the post and into the net. And it was Connell who sealed the points 14 minutes from time with his second goal in as many matches. The former Grimsby frontman swept home from 12 yards after a clever run and cross from substitute Lander Gabilondo. The victory, which extends Swindon's run of just one defeat in their last 18 games in all competitions, would have been more emphatic but for the hosts being denied by the woodwork on no fewer than four occasions. Connell twice had efforts rebound off the crossbar while Matt Ritchie and Jonathan Smith both struck posts. Midfielder James Mulley came closest for the Dons when his diving header was tipped wide by underworked home stopper Wes Foderingham.
