Match Preview

Same again for Robins Manager Danny Wilson is likely to keep faith with the same XI who drew 1-1 with Peterborough when Swindon host Bournemouth on New Year`s Day. Wilson felt his side built on a mixed first-half performance with an "absolutely fantastic" second 45 minutes in Tuesday`s encounter. The only change could come up front after Thomas Dossevi replaced Vincent Pericard on the hour mark and it remains to be seen who will partner transfer target Charlie Austin in attack. Wilson had to wait three weeks to make his statement of intent after the disappointing FA Cup exit to non-league Crawley and he did so by making four changes. Three of those came in defence with Andy Frampton, Paul Caddis and Alan Sheehan replacing Sean Morrison, Michael Rose and Kevin Amankwaah, with the former three expected to continue this weekend. Simon Ferry also came into midfield for the suspended Jonathan Douglas, who serves his second game of a three-match suspension against Bournemouth. Goalkeeper David Lucas could return after a slight knee problem but he would have to settle for a place on the bench behind current number one Phil Smith. Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe is likely to make changes to his starting line-up. Danny Ings was forced off during the defeat at MK Dons on Tuesday, meaning 38-year-old striker Steve Fletcher is in contention. Howe will assess whether the evergreen striker would be best suited to face the Robins or be rested with Monday's clash with Brentford in mind. Michael Symes (back and thigh) is likely to be on the bench after a failed fitness test saw him miss out in midweek while Joe Partington is also a doubt with a knock. There is better news on Anton Robinson who should be fit enough to feature despite suffering from a bout of flu. Shaun Cooper (back) is fit again but Ryan Garry (shin) is still out.

Match Report

Pearce wins it for Cherries Bournemouth captain Jason Pearce scored a stunning overhead kick late on to give his side only their second away league victory of the season in a 2-1 success at Swindon. The Cherries took the lead after 11 minutes when Charlie Austin handled in the area following a long throw from Liam Feeney. Marc Pugh stepped up and saw his penalty pushed onto the post by Robins keeper Phil Smith, but the ball squirmed back across goal for Pugh to tap in and score his ninth league goal of the season. Swindon equalised soon after with a superb team goal. A quick throw on the right found Manchester City loanee David Ball, who got to the byline and pulled back a great low cross for Matt Ritchie to connect sweetly with a left-foot shot that flew into the top right-hand corner. With 10 minutes to go another long throw caused confusion in the Swindon penalty box and it fell to Cherries skipper Pearce, who acrobatically swung his left foot from 12 yards out to score and give Eddie Howe's men all three points.
