Match Preview
Hull City's five-game unbeaten run will be put to the test when a revitalised Sunderland visit the KC Stadium.
The Tigers consolidated their surprise place among the European challengers with last weekend's 2-2 draw with Liverpool at Anfield.
However, Phil Brown was left wondering what might have been after his side stunned the Premier League leaders after racing into an early 2-0 lead.
"Great work and a great tactical display that got us 2-0 up has manifested itself in a 2-2 draw. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement," admitted Brown.
"However, we've got a point on our travels and we move on to the next game now."
Anfield goalscorer Paul McShane, who was substituted in the first half with a head injury, will not return this weekend as he is on loan at Hull from Sunderland.
Elsewhere, the weekend game will come too soon for Caleb Folan (knee), Craig Fagan (broken leg), Andy Dawson (Achilles) and Anthony Gardner (thigh).
Sunderland's stunning 4-0 win over West Bromwich Albion last weekend has given the board breathing space in their bid to identify and appoint a new manager.
Caretaker manager Ricky Sbragia oversaw the vital win which ended a three-match losing run and kept the Black Cats in touch with the clubs just outside the relegation zone.
The club's hierarchy has spent the week continuing their search for Roy Keane's replacement but, with a move out of the bottom three now within touching distance, there is less pressure to make a swift appointment.
Kenwyne Jones made a welcome return to the scoresheet with a brace against the Baggies after an injury-plagued and lean start to the season, while strike partner Djibril Cisse's second-half penalty took his tally to the year to seven.
But it was a first clean sheet in ten games which will have provided more of a boost to a team that had conceded 25 goals in their first 16 league games of the season.

Match Report
Sunderland made it eight goals in two games as they stuck four past a frustrated Hull City side at the KC stadium to take all three points.
Goals from Steed Malbranque and Nick Barmby saw the scores level at half-time, but second-half strikes from Kieran Richardson, Kenwyne Jones and Djibril Cisse saw caretaker manager Ricky Sbragia pick up his second win in three games.
Sunderland grabbed the opener on ten minutes as Andy Reid cut inside Bernard Mendy on the left and slid the ball into the feet of Malbranque, who hit a superb right-footed effort into top right corner of the net from 20 yards.
The home side were back on level terms soon after as a long ball upfield from Boaz Myhill was flicked on by Kamil Zayatte into the path of Michael Turner, whose sliding effort inside the six-yard box saw the ball come off the legs of keeper Marton Fulop and into the path of Barmby, who slammed the ball home from close range.
Geovanni then came within inches of getting his side's second as hit a curling right-footed free-kick towards the top corner from 20 yards, but Fulop did well to turn the ball over the bar.
The visitors had a great chance towards the end of the half as Jones flicked the ball into Malbranque with space in the box, but the French midfielder could only drag his effort well wide of the post.
Richardson tested the reactions of Myhill early in the second half as the ex-Manchester United man struck a rasping right-footed effort from 25 yards but the Wales international was equal to it.
Sbragia's men re-took the lead on 78 minutes as Richardson struck a right-footed shot from way out which saw the ball deflect off Zayatte and bounce into the net past the stranded Myhill.
Hull were then down to ten men with ten minutes left as Sam Ricketts was given a second yellow card by Mike Riley for a late challenge on Phil Bardsley.
Sunderland then made it 3-1 on 84 minutes as Malbranque made space down the right to deliver a cross towards Jones, who neatly nodded the ball into the back of the net from four yards.
The visitors completed the rout in injury time as Cisse raced onto a through ball and struck the ball first time past the hapless Myhill.
