Match Preview
Spiders look to break hoodoo against Blues Stranraer will be without Steven Noble and Paul McInnes for the visit of Queen's Park although the two-week international break has proved to be a welcome one for manager Keith Knox. Midfielder Noble is ruled out with a knee injury while Paul McInnes will also watch from the stands as Stranraer look to maintain their unbeaten record so far this season. But boss Knox said: "We had a bit of momentum going, however we had a couple of players with niggling injuries so the fortnight off has given them the chance to be in tip-top condition." The Blues put a near 10-year unbeaten league record on the line against their visitors, and Knox is determined to see his side keep that run intact. He added: "This record gets mentioned every time we play Queen's Park now and I know it will go eventually but I have no plans for it to end soon." Midfielders Giuseppe Capuano and Gavin Lachlan are added to the Queen`s Park squad. Injury victim Tony Quinn will, however, be missing along with the unavailable Richard Sinclair and Jack Henry, with Hampden head coach Gardner Speirs also waiting for news on the fitness of Darryl Meggat before firming up his team. The Spiders have lost their last four consecutive league games yet Speirs remains upbeat ahead of the match. He said: "We played better at Arbroath last week than we had for some time and that has boosted everyone's confidence. "Things are falling into place now after several changes during the summer and if we can build on the performance at Gayfield with another strong showing at Stair Park then I will be pleased."
Match Report
Malcolm leaves it late Craig Malcolm headed an injury-time winner as Stranraer beat Queen's Park 1-0. In a match which saw both sides reduced to 10 men, Malcolm struck deep into time added on as he nodded Lee Sharp`s cross past Queens stopper Adam Strain. Stranraer had lost Daniel Mitchell and Armond One to injury before half-time and it was Queens who looked the more likely to score before the break, with Paul Gallagher missing a decent chance and Stranraer keeper David Mitchell tipping a David Murray effort over the bar. Stranraer's Kevin Nicoll was dismissed for a second yellow with 15 minutes left and Ian Watt was given a straight red for the visitors in the 89th minute after clashing with Scott Agnew. Just when it looked as though the match was heading for a goalless draw, Malcolm struck with a dramatic winner.
