Winter in, Moore out for Montrose Stranraer welcome back midfielder Sean Winter against Montrose but striker Michael Moore remains out with a knock. Boss Keith Knox is looking for his men to repeat their fine performance against Motherwell in the Scottish Cup last weekend and gain a first win of the season over the Links Park club. Knox said: "The players quite rightly got a lot of credit for their display last week and they need to build on that to get us going in the league again. "We have lost our last two matches and the lead of the Third Division as a result so we need a win to get us going again in terms of chasing promotion. "Montrose will not be easy as they have won down here earlier in the season." Montrose have received a boost ahead of the trip. Player-manager Steven Tweed is fit again, Chris Hegarty is back after suspension and midfielder Nicky Smith also returns. The injured trio of Jonathan Crawford, Gordon Pope and Fraser Milligan remain out while Tweed has praised his side's opponents for their display against Motherwell in the Scottish Cup last Saturday. Tweed said: "Stranraer played really well against Stuart McCall's side and gave them a real fright so they will be want to build on that against us. "They will want the three points to slug it out with Arbroath at the top of the table but we won there earlier in the season and we can win again."

Match Report

Stranraer slip up Stranraer slipped out of the automatic promotion places after a 2-2 draw with strugglers Montrose at Stair Park. Connor Thompson opened the scoring for the away side seven minutes in, as he steered the ball home from Hugh Davidson's pass. But the Blues were level five minutes later when Craig Malcolm's left-foot strike flew past Sandy Wood in the Montrose goal. Both sides pushed for a winner as game came to a close and Montrose regained the lead through substitiute Daryl Nicol's strike from six yards with 20 minutes remaining. However, Keith Knox had made an inspired substitution of his own as Sean Winter levelled the scores just four minutes later to deny Montrose a crucial three points. The result sees Stranraer fall one place to third in the Scottish Third Division, four points adrift of league leaders Arbroath.
