Match Preview

Crease could miss out Stranraer will be missing the injured pair of Kevin Nicol and Glenn Mitchell for the visit of Berwick. The midfielders have both been ruled out as boss Keith Knox meets up with his players for the first time in two weeks at Stair Park. Knox said: "Stranraer avoided the worst of the snow so it looks like we have finally got a match. "The majority of our players come from Glasgow and I have not been able to make it up there for training so my assistant Stevie Aitken has been leading things. "Berwick are always tough opponents and it could well come down to which side shows the best reaction to the break that we have had." Berwick manager Jimmy Crease is a doubt to make his side`s trip as the weather continues to cause havoc. Midfielder Stuart Callaghan is out of the trip to the leaders with late fitness checks required on wide-man Fraser McLaren and former Stranraer front man Darren Gribben. Crease said: "I have been stuck in Linlithgow all week so Ian Little has taken training sessions in a gym. I am hoping that I can get out on Saturday and join up with the team bus. "The excitement of drawing Celtic in the Cup needs to be forgotten about now as league points are at stake. A win would put us in a decent position in the league with a game in hand."

Match Report

Malcolm makes his point Craig Malcolm netted a late equaliser as Stranraer edged one point clear at the top of Division Three following a 1-1 draw at home to Berwick. The third-placed visitors made a flying start as they took the lead in the second minute, Alan Brazil converting Kevin Gordon`s cross from six yards for his second goal in three games. Berwick almost doubled their lead 20 minutes later but Paul McMullan's strike was superbly tipped round the post by David Mitchell in the Stranraer goal. Malcolm was denied by Berwick goalkeeper Mark Peat as the home side tried to find an equaliser, which finally came four minutes from time. It was Malcolm who was not to be denied a second time as his low drive beat Pleat to claim his first goal in five games.
