Match Preview

Mitchell back for Blues Leaders Stranraer welcome back goalkeeper David Mitchell for the home clash with promotion rivals Albion Rovers. Manager Keith Knox's options have been further increased by the availability of defender Paul Murphy after a ban. Steven Noble remains out with Knox asking his attack-minded side for more of the same. He explained: "We have Craig Malcolm and Armand One both sitting on 20 goals this season and that shows how good we are going forward. "Keeping them out at the other end is more of a challenge for us. "If we go on a run of scoring one more than the opposition and win a few games on the bounce then we could really open up a gap on some teams." Albion Rovers can move to within two points of their hosts by winning at Stair Park, but they will be without midfielders Peter Innes and Chris Boyle and striker John Gemmell through injury. Midfield playmaker Tony Stevenson is also struggling with an ankle knock picked up in the goalless draw with East Stirling in midweek, but player-assistant manager Todd Lumsden is available again and midfielder Scott Chaplain has been added to the squad. Manager Paul Martin said: "We are a few bodies light but most teams will be the same with the amount of games getting played. "We will still put out a good line-up and will be looking for the win which we will get if we convert our chances."

Match Report

Rovers secure crucial win Albion came from a goal behind to claim an important 3-1 win at Stranraer. The visitors went into the game hit by injury and fell behind when Scott Andrew fired in a superb 25-yard free-kick in 12th minute. Albion turned the game around in the second half, though, as Robert Love hit home on the hour to level things up before Ciaran Donnelly's strike from the edge of the box put the visitors ahead just four minutes later. The double strike shocked Stranraer into action and they saw Lee Sharp go close with a shot from distance. With the hosts pressing for an equaliser late on, Albion sealed the win when Iain Smith headed home from close range in the 89th minute.
