Match Report

Stockport grabbed their first win of the season with a dramatic stoppage time goal from Tommy Rowe.

Always busy in what was often a rearguard action by Stockport, Rowe stuck in the third minute of added time when his low shot from the edge of the area hit the bottom corner.

Hartlepool had the better of a goalless first half, but couldn't get past Stockport's hard-working defence and keeper Owain Fon Williams.

He could only watch as Joel Porter's early header clipped the top of his bar, but he did well top throw himself to his left and tip a Ritchie Jones shot around the post.

He could only parry a shot from Antony Sweeney as the full-back cut in from the right, but from the rebound James Brown's shot was cleared off the line by Jonny Mullins.

Fon Williams then produced his best save just before half-time when he again dived to his left, this time low down to push a shot from Andy Monkhouse wide of the target.

Stockport had their moments, but chances were rare with their best falling to Anthony Pilkington, who ran well before his low shot was pushed round the base of the post by Arran Lee-Barrett

Rowe hammered a shot against the underside of the home bar soon after the break with the ball rebounding to safety as Hartlepool defended desperately.

But towards the end it was Hartlepool who took over again and Porter hammered a shot into the side-netting and sent an overhead kick inches wide, before Fon Williams tipped a Brown header over the bar with another top save.

But Rowe pinched the points as Hartlepool backed off Rowe and allowed him to score a dramatic winner.
