Match Preview

Stockport without Swailes Stockport manager Paul Simpson will be without Danny Swailes for the visit of bottom-club Hereford. The defender was stretchered off with a knee injury in County's goalless draw with Lincoln last week and the early signs suggest he may have damaged his cruciate ligaments and could be sidelined for some time. Jordan Rose replaced Swailes after half an hour at Sincil Bank and will continue to operate in the Hatters' defence. Goalkeeper Matt Glennon and midfielder Jake Simpson have both signed new contracts and will keep their places in Simpson's starting line-up, while on-loan Burnley striker Wes Fletcher has recovered from a calf injury and will start in attack. Owain Fon Williams is not available for selection after joining Bury on a month-long loan deal. Guillem Bauza is rated 50/50 as Jamie Pitman continues his caretaker manager role for Hereford at Stockport. Pitman was promoted from physio to stand-in boss in the wake of Simon Davey`s sacking at the start of the month, but his overall performance has impressed the powers that be at Edgar Street so much that he was on Friday given an extended stay until the end of the year with a view to his full-time appointment should things continue to go well. And Pitman will be desperate to have striker Bauza available at Edgeley Park as he looks to recover from a groin strain. Otherwise, goalkeeper Dan Connor (hip) remains the only player on the treatment table as he continues his long-term rehabilitation, with no date set for his return. The Bulls have taken five points from a possible nine since Pitman took the reins and a positive result against the Hatters could take them off the foot of the Football League for the first time since mid-September.

Match Report

Bulls crush Hatters Hereford moved off the bottom of the Football League with an emphatic 5-0 victory at Stockport. The bulls took the lead when on-loan Oldham striker Rob Purdie took advantage of a dreadful mix-up in the Stockport defence to drive home a low shot via the legs of keeper Matt Glennon after nine minutes. Just three minutes later he was on hand again as Glennon parried Kenny Lunt's shot straight into his path to mark a dream return to his former club. Despite the efforts of leading scorer George Donnelly, who forced a fine save from Adam Bartlett in the first half, the Hatters' attack was blunted by a solid Bulls defence. In fact, it was Hereford who looked more likely to score and their lead was increased seven minutes after the break when Mathieu Manset beat the offside trap to chip over Glennon. Substitute Stuart Fleetwood added a fourth four minutes from time and Stockport's misery was complete three minutes later when Glennon allowed the ball to come off his body and into his own net.
