Holroyd back in play for Boro
Stevenage leading scorer Chris Holroyd will return to the squad for the home game with Northampton.
Striker Holroyd, who has six goals to his name so far this season, was ineligible for Boro's last match - the 2-0 FA Cup win over AFC Wimbledon on November 27 - due to the terms of his loan from Brighton.
On-loan Watford midfielder Josh Walker made his debut in the victory over the Dons and after getting on the scoresheet, should retain his place.
Injury-prone striker Ben May could return after being rested for the cup game and midfielder David Bridges will be pushing for a start after being dropped to the bench in the last match.
Lee Boylan (calf) and Darren Murphy (ankle) remain absent and are not expected to be back before the New Year.
Northampton manager Ian Sampson is set to name an unchanged side.
The Cobblers returned to winning ways last weekend with a 2-0 victory over Stockport and Sampson could name the same XI.
He said: "We've got one or two niggles but nothing too serious.
"We haven't picked up any injuries in the week so hopefully I should have the same squad to pick from as I did last Saturday."
Captain Andy Holt came off at half-time last week but should be fit to start - although his replacement Michael Jacobs did score against the Hatters.
Kevin Thornton will be looking to keep his place in midfield after scoring last week and striker Tadhg Purcell remains the only injury absentee and he will not feature again this season as he nurses a knee ligament injury.
Cobblers edge out sorry Stevenage
Ten-man Stevenage slipped to a second defeat in a row after they were beaten 1-0 by Northampton.
Darius Charles was given his marching orders for a professional foul in the 52nd minute - and from there are on Borough were always going to struggle to get anything out of the contest.
Ryan Gilligan was the Cobblers matchwinner with his sweet 14th-minute strike enough for maximum points.
The former Watford trainee lost his marker and rifled a powerful shot into the bottom left-hand corner as the visitors claimed their second win on the bounce.
Northampton dominated proceedings and could have won by more, although Stevenage had chances of their own.
Ryan Jarvis had a shot charged down and one saved by Borough keeper Chris Day, before Chris Holroyd headed over for the hosts and then blazed over the bar.
Ben May headed wide of the left upright as the Cobblers went close to doubling their lead, while Scott Laird had a shot blocked and then Charles was sent packing for a silly foul on John Johnson.
Substitute Yemi Odubade, Billy McKay and Josh Walker all forced fine saves out of Cobblers keeper Chris Dunn, but the visitors deserved the points.
