Match Preview

Captain Roberts sits out with ban Stevenage boss Graham Westley will be without captain Mark Roberts for the home clash against Hereford. The 27-year-old defender was dismissed in Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Torquay for denying Gulls striker Chris Zebroski a clear goalscoring opportunity and will serve a one-match ban. Luke Foster and Darius Charles will now battle it out to replace the centre-back in the starting line-up. Westley could also be tempted to make further changes following his side's first defeat in five games against the Gulls, with striker Craig Reid and top-scorer Byron Harrison pushing for starts along with midfielders Stacy Long and Robert Sinclair. Midfielder Darren Murphy, who has made one appearance this season due to a dislocated shoulder and broken leg, could return to the squad. Hereford have signed Adrian Patulea ahead of the trip but on-loan midfielder Harry Pell will not feature having been recalled by Bristol Rovers. Striker Patulea has arrived until the end of the season having been released by Leyton Orient in January and will go straight into the squad at Broadhall Way. However, his arrival has been tempered by the loss of influential midfielder Pell who has been called back by his parent club, just a week after extending his stay at Edgar Street by another month. Pell`s departure means manager Jamie Pitman will be forced into at least one change from the XI who went down 3-0 at home to Bury on Saturday. Pitman has no new injury or suspension concerns from the weekend.

Match Report

Colbeck corker clinches it Joe Colbeck scored a superb winner with just seven minutes remaining to stun Stevenage and clinch three precious points for Hereford in their battle to avoid relegation. It was looking as though the clash would remain goalless until Colbeck let fly from distance to plant an effort into the top corner and seal a 1-0 triumph for the Bulls. Stevenage had just about the better of a disappointing first half. The hosts opened well early on with Craig Reid firing a shot just wide from just outside the box. United responded with Stuart Fleetwood's shot producing a fine point-blank stop from Chris Day. The best chance of a goalless first half fell to Stevenage 10 minutes before the break when Byron Harrison let fly from just inside the area, but his effort fizzed inches over the crossbar. Hereford enjoyed the better of the second half opening and substitute Nicky Featherstone came close late on when his shot flew inches wide from just outside the 18-yard box. The best the hosts could offer was through fellow sub John Mousinho who crashed an effort narrowly wide, leaving Colbeck to show how it is done and settle matters in Hereford`s favour.
