Match Preview

O`Shea set for debut Stevenage look set to hand a debut to James O'Shea for the visit of league leaders Chesterfield. The winger joined Boro on a one-month loan deal in the week and could go straight into Graham Westley's side. Luke Foster is back in the squad after a one-match ban following his red card at Burton and he could be handed an instant recall. Westley has no fresh injury concerns to deal with, but Joel Byrom (fractured eye socket), Lee Boylan, Chris Beardsley and Darren Murphy are all long-term absentees and not expected to be available any time soon. Stevenage have settled into life into the Football League in fine fashion and welcome the Spireites to Broadhall Way on a run of just one defeat in the last seven games. Jack Hunt returns from suspension for Chesterfield`s first-ever meeting against Stevenage. The on-loan left-back served a one-match ban as John Sheridan`s side extended their lead at the top of the table to three points with a 4-3 home victory over Shrewsbury last weekend. Sheridan must decide whether to restore Hunt to the team or stick with Dan Gray, who deputised against the Shrews. With Accrington visiting the b2net Stadium on Tuesday night, the manager may choose to rest veteran striker Jack Lester and start with Jordan Bowery or Scott Boden alongside leading scorer Craig Davies. Dean Morgan (groin) is Chesterfield`s only injury absentee. The striker is still a couple of weeks away from returning to contention.

Match Report

Spireites stay on top Chesterfield remain on top of the League Two table after securing a creditable 0-0 draw at Stevenage. The first half featured plenty of half-chances, but no goals. Stevenage bossed the early proceedings and Chris Holroyd almost broke the deadlock when he saw a powerful shot blocked. Michael Bostwick then twice flashed low shots narrowly wide of either post for the hosts. Holroyd then fluffed a great opportunity when he scooped a shot over the Chesterfield crossbar from close range. The Spireites created the final chance of the opening half, but Craig Davies fired over from just inside the box. The visitors carried on from where they left off in the first half when Davies again went close just after the restart. Visiting sub Jack Lester then almost made an immediate impact when he crashed a shot inches wide just minutes after coming on. Chesterfield almost snatched a winner in stoppage time, but Derek Niven fired disappointingly straight at Stevenage goalkeeper Chris Day.
