Match Preview

Stenhousemuir will be without experienced midfield duo Kevin McKinlay and Paul McHale again for the home clash with Brechin. McKinlay is still struggling with a shoulder problem, while McHale remains sidelined with a foot injury. Assistant manager Kevin McGoldrick, whose side have won their last four games at Ochilview, said: "Brechin are one of the clubs expected to be challenging for promotion and will go on a run up the table soon. "The bigger the gap we have on them before they do that the better our season will be, so this would be a tremendous game to win. "We played well at home last week to defeat Dumbarton and will need that level of performance and effort to win this one." Brechin boss Jim Weir is looking for the return of energetic midfielder Craig Molloy to give his faltering side a lift. Molloy, sidelined for six weeks with a groin problem, will go straight back into the starting line-up, but striker Jim Lister is suspended. Weir said: "We have made a disappointing start to the league this season, but we did beat Stenhousemuir in one of the early league games and it would be great to repeat that. "They have been fantastic so far and will be a side that challenges for promotion this season, so we need to get the three points and move closer to them."

Match Report

Warriors fail to make numbers count Stenhousemuir failed to make the most of their numerical advantage as 10-man Brechin held out for a 1-1 draw. The opener came on the half-hour mark when Stenhousemuir's William Lyle upended Bryan Hodge in the area. Charlie King stepped up to score his second penalty in as many games. Hodge then turned from hero to villain, fouling Eric Paton to receive his marching orders. Stenhousemuir soon took control, and five minutes before the break Sean Dickson fired past Craig Nelson from Paton's pass. But despite having nearly all the possession after the break, the Warriors failed to seriously test Nelson in the Brechin goal, as the visitors held out for a point.
