Match Preview

Barron hopes Hoops underestimate Saints David Barron hopes Celtic will have one eye on their Champions League clash against Barcelona when they face St Mirren. Saints host the Scottish champions in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League just days before the Hoops travel to the Nou Camp for the glamour European tie. Barron knows Celtic will claim to have their full focus on the trip to Paisley but the defender believes a meeting with the Catalan giants is almost impossible to put to one side. He said: "Hopefully they are focusing on the game they've got on Tuesday night and will be taking their eye off the ball a little bit and we can get a good result against them. "All the players and the Celtic manager will be trying to say 'right, let's focus on the St Mirren game' - but it will be in the back of the players' minds that a massive game at the Nou Camp is coming up. "I'm sure that will take a little bit more priority over this one. "They'll tell you it won't but I'm sure it will be in the back of some of the Celtic players' minds. Hopefully it can work for us and against them." With only one half of the Old Firm available to face in league action, Barron is relishing the meeting with Celtic even more. He said: "It's a brilliant game to come back to after the international break. "With Rangers not being in the league now, Celtic is the one you look for at the start of the season. We can't wait to get a shot at them. "You want to beat everyone but, when the Old Firm come to town, you feel as though you are taking a scalp when you beat them. "There's a little bit of added excitement for this game because it's only Celtic this year." Celtic defender Charlie Mulgrew admits the Nou Camp clash will be the biggest game of his career, although he is reluctant to look past the trip to Paisley. He said: "I think Celtic as a club are flying the flag well for Scottish football. "As a club we are happy to be involved in the Champions League and looking to progress as far as we can and that can only be good for Scottish football. "It is a huge game, massive for everyone involved at the club and we will enjoy every minute of it. "They are the biggest club in the world. "But first of all we need to concentrate on Saturday and St Mirren. "We don't just expect to win games and keep going. You need to earn it and we will do that hopefully on Saturday." Scott Brown and James Forrest are unlikely to feature against Ross County due to respective hip and groin complaints, while Chris Commons is a doubt.
