Doughty ready for Saints debut
St Johnstone have agreed a deal to sign QPR midfielder Michael Doughty on loan.
The 20-year-old arrived in Scotland on Tuesday morning and could feature in Wednesday's Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash against Aberdeen at McDiarmid Park.
Saints manager Steve Lomas said: "QPR have kindly let us have Michael.
"He's a very silky midfielder who is good on the ball and can play in various positions across the middle."
Fellow midfielder Murray Davidson remains a doubt after missing the recent defeat against Motherwell with an ankle injury.
Gary Miller is out for eight weeks with an ankle injury suffered at Fir Park while Steven Anderson (knee) and Jamie Adams (back) remain out and Peter Pawlett has returned to Aberdeen since the Motherwell loss.
Aberdeen defender Russell Anderson has a chance of making the clash after missing the draw with Hibernian with what manager Craig Brown described as a training injury.
Gary Naysmith and Ryan Jack are still out but are edging towards fitness while reserve goalkeeper Jason Brown has left the club.
Andrew Considine (broken leg) and Chris Clark (broken ankle) are out for the rest of the season.
Brown will look to bring in a replacement before Thursday's deadline but does not expect to sign anyone other than a goalkeeper.
His main priority is the trip to McDiarmid Park to face St Johnstone in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League tomorrow night.
And boss Brown is looking for a more urgent and clinical display than he saw in the final third from his side in the goalless draw against Hibernian on Sunday, when Niall McGinn missed an early penalty.
He said: "I felt we played well on Sunday but could not get the goal we required. You cannot get a better chance than from the penalty spot so when you miss a spot-kick you think it might be one of those days, another of those 0-0 games that we had at the start of the season.
"I am not too displeased though because I thought the team played well. Any football aficionado knows that we played well but we must get the ball into the net. There is no excuse if we continue to fire blanks like we did against Hibs.
"I was disappointed with the players when they were stepping over the ball, making an extra pass when they could have got an early shot away. The lads are aware of that and we talked about it when we watched the video as we always do.
"Watching the games allows them to pick up things and learn from their mistakes. Not enough of our shots troubled the goalkeeper."
