The wet, slippery conditions tested both teams as this all-Conference FA Cup clash ended in the need for a reply, despite Southport equalising through a Kevin Leadbetter second half goal, following Steve Evans' first half strike.
Southport dominated early proceedings, with Kevin Leadbetter offered a glorious chance to give his side the early lead when his marker, Luke Oliver, slipped but with just the keeper to beat, Leadbetter's shot went directly to the grateful Shwan Jalal.
Jalal was the busier keeper in the opening exchanges as Dominic Morley, Carl Baker and Matty McGinn all had speculative shots from outside the area, but all Southport's early chances went clear of the Woking goal.
Against the run of play, it was Woking who scored first when a ball was played back from the bye-line to Karl Murray who shot goal-bound, for Evans to bury home from close range.
Southport kept prodding away, but were kept in check by a resolute Woking backline, but the defence was finally torn apart shortly after the hour mark when Carl Baker fed a swift low ball through the middle of the defence, for Kevin Leadbetter to capitalise from Jalal's hesitancy and slide the ball home to finely balance the tie.
With full time looming, both teams pressed for the winner, but the wet conditions made controlling the ball difficult for both sets of players.Southport nearly snatched victory four minutes into stoppage time when Kevin Leadbetter struck from the edge of the box, but his fierce shot struck the cross bar, with the referee blowing for full time as the ball came back.
