Match Preview

Broken toe rules out Dailly Christian Dailly has been ruled out for up to six weeks ahead of Southend's crunch clash against fellow promotion hopefuls Cheltenham on Friday night. The Scottish defender, who only joined the Shrimpers on non-contract terms earlier this month, broke a toe during last Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Bristol Rovers - in what was only his third appearance for the League Two club. It is hoped Dailly could be fit for Southend's final match of the regular season and any possible involvement in the play-offs should they be unable to clinch a top-three finish. Elsewhere, influential centre-back Mark Phillips hopes to be given the green light to feature having been forced off against Rovers following a nasty collision of heads and a subsequent bout of concussion. Liam Dickinson (ankle) and JP Kalala (knee) have both been ruled out for the rest of the season. Freddy Eastwood is in line for his first appearance at Roots Hall since returning to the Essex club on loan from Coventry last week, while winger Bilel Mohsni also runs out on home soil for the first time since being given a reprieve by Southend following his indiscipline at Morecambe last month. Cheltenham manager Mark Yates has the luxury of a fully-fit squad to pick from once again. The Robins have not found the back of the net in any of their last three outings, and Jimmy Spencer could return up front in the pursuit of a much-needed goal. However, Ben Burgess and Steve MacLean arrived on loan at Whaddon Road from Notts County and Yeovil respectively last week, making their debuts in the goalless draw with Oxford, and the pair are set to continue up front against the Shrimpers. Yates has challenged the duo to score the goals that could fire Cheltenham into League One and earn the strikers longer stays with the club. He told the Gloucestershire Echo: "Of course permanent contracts have been discussed because we are always looking at players and we think we have two good ones here. "We have gone four games without scoring, but we now want to get more bodies in the box and be more dynamic."
