Borrowdale set for bow Adam Lallana is in line to return to the Southampton squad for the visit of Carlisle. The midfielder has been missing for a month with a knee injury but is back in full training and should be involved. Veteran striker David Connolly is also fit after a hernia operation and could be on the bench, but midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin is still missing with the calf injury which kept him out of last week's 4-4 draw at Peterborough. Captain Dean Hammond returned from a spell out with a calf problem against Posh and came through unscathed so he will partner Richard Chaplow in the centre of midfield again. Winger Lee Holmes is a long-term absentee and will not play again this season after an ankle operation. Carlisle's latest signing Gary Borrowdale is expected to make his first league appearance for the Cumbrians. QPR defender Borrowdale made his debut in the midweek Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat at Huddersfield after arriving for an initial month-long loan spell. Cumbrians manager Greg Abbott has no new injury or suspension problems, but could still be without skipper Paul Thirlwell (calf) and on-loan defenders Joe Dudgeon (knee) and Liam Cooper (hand), who all missed Tuesday night's Northern Area final clash, which saw Abbott's side hold on for a 4-3 aggregate win. Striker Rory Loy, a recent permanent signing from Rangers, was included in the midweek starting line-up and is poised to make his first league start as Carlisle bid to halt a run of three straight defeats.

Match Report
Chamberlain drives Saints onwards Rickie Lambert racked up his half century of goals for Southampton to give them a 1-0 win over Carlisle, but whizzkid Alex Chamberlain was the spark behind the win. Two bookable fouls on the teenager by Carlisle's Gary Borrowdale, making his first Championship start for the club, meant the visitors were controversially reduced to 10 men just before the break. Within a minute of the sending off Lambert had put the Saints ahead - with a lot of help from the 17-year-old Chamberlain. He turned superbly on Guly Do Prado's cross and dinked the ball into the six-yard box for the 43rd-minute winner. Carlisle's only effort on goal in the first half was from Lubomir Michalik on the half-hour, but his header was saved by Kelvin Davies. Saints went close through Dany N'Guessan before Lambert netted. It was damage limitation for the Cumbrians in the second half. Another tame header from Michalik in the 57th minute was the closest Carlisle got to an equaliser. Chamberlain deserved a goal and came close in the 65th minute. A wonderful one-two with the returning Adam Lallana put the youngster clean through, but Carlisle goalkeeper Adam Collin got down well to save.
