Match Preview
Same again as Shrews aim for top three Shrewsbury manager Graham Turner is expected to name an unchanged XI for the club`s crunch promotion clash at home to Oxford. Having kept faith with the same starting line-up for three matches, the Shrews boss made just one change for last weekend`s precious 1-0 victory away to Cheltenham. Mark Wright came in for Lionel Ainsworth having replaced the winger at half-time during Easter Monday`s goalless draw at home to Accrington, and Town`s leading scorer duly repaid his manager`s faith by bagging the only goal at Whaddon Road. Wright`s impact has made it hard him to be left him out against the U`s, with Matt Harrold the only other real option should Turner wish to make changes, although the striker`s inclusion is unlikely. Shrewsbury go in the encounter one point behind Wycombe, who occupy the final automatic promotion place, and needing to better their result at home to Southend to clinch a top-three finish. Oxford centre-back Jake Wright is major doubt for their trip to a sold out Greenhous Meadow. Wright had to come off in the second half of last weekend's 2-1 home win over Lincoln with a hamstring injury and he is struggling to be fit. Harry Worley, Stevie Kinniburgh and Mitchell Hanson will be battling it out to come in if Wright fails to make it, but U`s manager Chris Wilder cannot select French defender Djoumin Sangare (metatarsal). Right-back Damian Batt recovered from a knock to take his starting place against the Imps but after being replaced in the 62 minute by Ben Purkiss, he might have to settle for a place among the substitutes. Steven McLean is also pushing for a starting spot after being dropped against Lincoln but then appearing in the second half and setting up United's winning goal.

Match Report
Shrews miss out on automatic promotion Shrewsbury's brave bid for automatic promotion ended in disappointment despite an impressive 3-0 victory against Oxford. Graham Turner's men needed to better Wycombe's result against Southend but the Chairboys' 3-1 win left the Shrews facing a play-off date with Torquay. Victory for Shrewsbury meant they won four and drew one of their last five games without conceding a goal but they came up just one point short of Wycombe. Neither side conjured a direct shot on goal in the first half but things changed dramatically in the 52nd minute when big striker Matt Harrold was called up off the bench and created the vital breakthrough. He showed deft control before stroking the ball out to midfielder Mark Wright who jinked his way around Damien Batt and fired home his 14th goal of the season. Harrold crowned a match-changing performance in the 77th minute when his slide rule pass set up David Davis for the second and in the final minute provided an encore for sub Lionel Ainsworth to add the third.
