Jacobson in fitness race Shrewsbury are hopeful Joe Jacobson will be fit to face promotion rivals Crawley in Monday's showdown at the Greenhous Meadow. The left-back hobbled out of the 2-1 midweek defeat at Swindon after an hour nursing a groin injury, but will be given as much time as possible to prove his fitness and take his place in the Shrews' backline. Should he fail to make it then fit-again defender Shane Cansdell-Sherriff, who replaced Jacobson at the County Ground, will start. Striker Tom Bradshaw, who has been on the periphery of late, misses the game having been called up for international duty with the Wales Under-21s squad. Otherwise, manager Graham Turner is not expected to have any further selection concerns. Shrews were unchanged for a third successive match against the Robins and the likes of Lionel Ainsworth, Nicky Wroe, Marvin Morgan and Romaine Sawyers will again be champing at the bit for involvement. Hope Akpan should be fit for Crawley. The former Everton youngster came off as a precaution during Wednesday night's 1-1 draw with Morecambe after sustaining an ankle knock but is expected to be available. Akpan had started in midfield after Kyle McFadzean switched to right-back following an injury to David Hunt. Hunt suffered a broken foot in the challenge which saw Rory Delap sent off - a decision that was later overturned - during Stoke's 2-0 FA Cup win on Saturday. Scott Shearer has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury, so Watford loanee Rene Gilmartin continues in goal. On-loan Millwall striker Shaun Batt is hoping to make his debut.

Shrews up to third Shrewsbury climbed to third spot in League Two after coming from behind to beat fellow promotion contenders Crawley 2-1. Substitute Marvin Morgan grabbed the winner in the 74th minute when he was sent clear by Jermaine Grandison to fire past Crawley goalkeeper Rene Gilmartin. Crawley controlled the first half for long stages and it was no surprise when their pressure paid off with the opening goal in the 33rd minute. The impressive Billy Clarke clipped the ball forward into the box and John Akinde thumped a low shot beyond the despairing reach of Chris Neal. The Shrewsbury keeper earlier had to be alert to stop shots from just outside the area from Josh Simpson and Sanchez Watt. Shrewsbury took time to get into their rhythm but improved as the contest developed and pulled level two minutes before the break, winger Mark Wright firing home from 15 yards for his ninth goal of the season. Neal came to his side's rescue with important saves from Akinde and Watt after an hour before Morgan, who turned down the chance to sign for Crawley last season, had the final word for Shrewsbury who have now gone a calendar year without a home defeat.
