Match Preview

Regan worry for Shrews Graham Turner will be forced into making a defensive change ahead of Shrewsbury's clash with Accrington. Defender Carl Regan was forced off after 30 minutes of the 1-1 draw with Rotherham with a hamstring injury. However, his replacement Shane Cansdell-Sherriff scored his first goal of the season to rescue a point following Lewis Grabban's sublime strike, and may have played his way back into Turner's thoughts. Striker James Collins appeared for the last 20 minutes at Don Valley and is also pushing for a place in the starting XI but Reuben Hazell remains sidelined with a knee injury. The Shrews have dropped off the promotion pace after picking up just one victory in their last four npower League Two matches. Luke Dobie could be handed his first start for Accrington. The midfielder, on loan from npower Championship side Middlesbrough, came off the bench to make his debut in Friday's defeat to Cheltenham and could be promoted to the starting line-up for the trip to the Greenhous Meadow Stadium. Fellow loanees James Spray and Will Hatfield, from Wolves and Leeds respectively, made their debuts against the Robins and will be hoping to keep their starting berths. Manager John Coleman is without Ian Craney for at least three months after the 29-year-old midfielder suffered a broken leg in training. On-loan Colchester defender Tom Bender is still unlikely to be involved after suffering severe concussion against Tranmere in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Match Report

Bradshaw gives Shrews home comfort Tom Bradshaw's first goal of the season secured a 1-0 win for Shrewsbury over Accrington as they chalked up a seventh straight home victory in all competitions. Shrewsbury controlled the first half for long stages and their pressure finally paid off in the 27th minute when Wales Under-21 international striker Bradshaw clinically swept home a Lionel Ainsworth cross from 12 yards after a blistering run down the right from the lively winger. Accrington goalkeeper Ian Dunbavin earlier saved superbly from Shane Cansdell-Sherriff's header before Ainsworth's 20-yard free-kick scraped a post on its way wide. Marvin Morgan should also have done better than lift his shot over the bar when he only had Dunbavin to beat. Accrington, still searching for their first away win of the season, made little impression going forward with a Will Hatfield shot which drifted wide from close range as good as it got for John Coleman's men. Shrewsbury pushed forward in search of a killer second goal after the break but chances were hard to come by as Bradshaw's goal proved to be enough to lift them up to third place in the table.
