Match Preview
Same again for Owls Sheffield Wednesday boss Gary Megson looks set to name an unchanged starting line-up for the match against Tranmere at Hillsborough. Megson was delighted after he picked up his first home win as Owls boss on Saturday as they overcame Colchester 2-1 - Wednesday`s first win in six matches. Preston loanee Neil Mellor will therefore retain his starting place after netting both goals against the Us. The only change to the squad could be the inclusion of on-loan Scunthorpe centre-back Rob Jones who is currently recovering from the concussion that kept him out at the weekend. Richard O`Donnell will continue in goal with on-loan Wigan goalkeeper Lee Nicholls on the bench as fellow shot-stoppers Nicky Weaver (groin) and Arron Jameson (pelvis) remain sidelined. Tranmere boss Les Parry will assess the fitness of Michael Kay, Andy Robinson and Dale Jennings ahead of the trip. Robinson missed Saturday`s 2-0 home defeat against Huddersfield with a groin injury while Kay took a knock to his ankle during the match. Rookie striker Jennings also sustained a calf strain against the Terriers. However, Tim Cathalina and Robbie Weir could be passed fit as Rovers bid to bounce back from Saturday`s loss and boost their fight against the drop. Parry said: "The players have got to be mentally strong now. Every game is so important and we need a couple of wins, hopefully starting at Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday."

Match Report
Owls reach 50 not out Sheffield Wednesday eased any lingering relegation fears with a convincing 4-0 victory over fellow strugglers Tranmere at Hillsborough. Tommy Miller scored twice while strikers Gary Madine and Neil Mellor chipped in with a goal apiece as the Owls recorded back-to-back home league wins for the first time in five months to move onto the magical 50-point mark. Miller opened the scoring as a result of Wednesday's first attack of any real note, reacting well to power home a header inside the six-yard box from Mellor's nod down following a deep centre from Gary Teale on the right. The home fans did not have long to wait for a second and again it was Mellor who was involved in the build-up as he slotted a fine pass through for Madine, who still had plenty of work to do before he raced through to find the back of the net. Mellor, who scored twice at the weekend, was then upended in the box by Michael Kay which gave Miller the chance to tuck away a third from the penalty spot. Tranmere rarely looked like scoring throughout the game and the decision to haul off highly-rated forward Dale Jennings midway through the half summed up the frustration of Rovers boss Les Parry. The second half was a much closer affair but man-of-the-match Mellor was not to be denied his goal as he latched onto what seemed a lost cause following Clinton Morrison's flick-on and squeezed the ball past Tony Warner from an impossible looking angle.
