Lowe back for Owls Sheffield Wednesday striker Ryan Lowe will return to contention for the home clash with Colchester. Lowe, a summer signing from Bury, has made only two substitute appearances for the Owls due to an ankle problem, but could be included in Gary Megson's squad. Megson has no new injury or suspension problems as his side look to extend their unbeaten league run to six matches. Midfielder David Prutton returned as an unused substitute last week after missing the previous three games with a thigh strain and will be hoping to play some part. Winger Jermaine Johnson is also pushing for a recall to the starting line-up after appearing after half-time in last week's Steel City draw, but defenders Jon Otsemobor (calf), Daniel Jones (ankle) and goalkeeper Nicky Weaver (knee) remain long-term absentees. The Owls could go top of the table with victory if other results go their way. Colchester boss John Ward is positive his side will travel in good shape. Unbeaten in their last four matches, the Us will be without two centre-backs, suspended Magnus Okuonghae and Pat Baldwin who is nursing a broken toe. Baldwin is likely to miss the next couple of matches, but Ward has been boosted by two new faces in training. Matt Heath (ankle) and Tom Eastman have returned from injury and a loan spell respectively to help ease Ward's defensive woes. Eastman has featured regularly for League Two high-fliers Crawley so far this season but the former Ipswich man is now in line to make his Colchester debut.

Owls flying high Sheffield Wednesday made it seven consecutive home wins with a 2-0 victory over Colchester thanks to goals from Rob Jones and Reda Johnson. In a tight first half, Brian Wilson fired over for the Us from 20 yards before Wednesday thought they had taken the lead on the half hour mark. Gary Madine turned home Ben Marshall's long throw only for the goal to be ruled out for an adjudged foul on Andy Bond by Chris O'Grady. Madine headed onto the bar after the restart before Wednesday opened the scoring in the 59th minute through captain Jones. Us keeper Ben Williams could only palm Madine's stinging left-footed effort and the giant defender was on hand to slide in the rebound. O'Grady was then denied by Williams before the Owls doubled their advantage with 20 minutes left. Chris Lines' searching free-kick was misjudged by Madine but defender Johnson was alert to bundle home from close range. Substitute Jermaine Johnson should have added a third late on but somehow fired wide.
