Match Preview
Beevers boosts Owls Sheffield Wednesday defender Mark Beevers could be a surprise inclusion in the starting line-up against Bournemouth. Beevers was expected to be sidelined for up to eight weeks with ankle ligament damage, but returns to contention way ahead of schedule after missing just two matches. It is a timely return for Beevers as fellow defender Jon Otsemobor sits out the first game of a three-match ban following his straight red card in last weekend's win at Yeovil. Owls manager Alan Irvine could also be boosted by the return of midfielder Giles Coke, who has been struggling with a hamstring strain, while winger Jermaine Johnson, who scored 10 minutes after stepping off the bench in the second half at Yeovil, is pushing for a recall to the starting line-up as he gets back to full fitness following a long-term knee injury. Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has striking problems. Michael Symes and Josh McQuoid have both missed training this week with shoulder and calf problems but Howe will have to monitor their progress before naming them in the squad. If both strikers fail fitness tests veteran Steven Fletcher will start his first League One game for more than three years in a lone striker role. Adam Smith, who is set to extend his loan spell with the Cherries before the trip to Hillsborough, will continue in defence, with Lee Bradbury occupying the bench again while Harry Arter has trained this week after a spell on the sidelines with a hernia injury and could be in contention for a place among the substitutes.

Match Report
Mellor goal saves Owls Substitute Neil Mellor scored a late equaliser as Sheffield Wednesday came from behind to draw 1-1 with Bournemouth following Ryan Garry's first-half opener. Garry struck in the 25th minute, firing past Nicky Weaver from inside the area after Marc Pugh's corner found him unmarked. But Mellor (82) pounced to earn his side a point, sliding in at the far post to meet Gary Teale's cross and hook the ball into the net. Wednesday never posed a serious threat before the break. Tommy Miller's shot, which was comfortably saved by Shwan Jalal, being their only effort on goal. Bournemouth looked comfortable in possession and Weaver had to be alert to keep out an effort from Josh McQuoid. Weaver made another save from McQuoid in the second-half as the visitors looked to extend their lead. Wednesday improved in the second period and had chances to equalise before Mellor struck. Daniel Jones saw his angled effort saved and Mellor put a near-post header wide while Gary Teale shot off-target. Bournemouth skipper Jason Pearce headed wide in the closing minutes.
