Match Preview
Mendez-Laing set for Blades bow Sheffield United's latest signing Nathaniel Mendez-Laing is hoping to make his first league start for the club against Brentford. The 19-year-old Wolves winger, signed on loan this week in time to start in the Carling Cup penalty shootout win at Hartlepool on Tuesday night, played for 64 minutes and impressed manager Danny Wilson. Wilson has no new injury or suspension worries, but summer signings Chris Porter and Ryan Flynn remain doubtful after missing the Carling Cup tie through injury. Porter is still struggling with a dead leg and midfielder Flynn is nursing a tight hamstring. Wilson is not short of midfield options - Matty Harriott, David McAllister and Danny Philliskirk all started on the bench in midweek - while Daniel Bogdanovic and Jonathan Slew are vying for a place up front alongside Richard Cresswell. Fellow forward Ched Evans remains sidelined with an ankle injury. Niall McGinn and Leon Legge should return to the Brentford squad. On-loan Celtic winger McGinn missed Tuesday night's Carling Cup defeat to Hereford as he was on international duty, playing the final 30 minutes of Northern Ireland's 4-0 win over the Faroe Islands on Wednesday. Defender Legge has sat out the first two matches of the season with a calf injury but is now back in training and expected to be fit. Boss Uwe Rosler rotated his squad on Tuesday after beating Yeovil at the weekend so goalkeeper Richard Lee, defender Craig Woodman, midfielder Jake Reeves, winger Myles Weston and striker Gary Alexander could all come back in. Midfielder Toumani Diagouraga (knee) and winger Kirk Hudson (hip) are still on the sidelines.

Match Report
Wilson enjoys home comforts Danny Wilson celebrated his first home game in charge of Sheffield United with a 2-0 win over Brentford at Bramall Lane. Second-half strikes from Jordan Slew and Richard Cresswell did the damage as the Blades made it back-to-back wins in League One. United had the best chance of the opening exchanges but Slew fired wastefully wide when free on the left. Gary Alexander then nodded Myles Weston's curling cross narrowly over the bar before the Blades burst into life after the break and went ahead four minutes after the restart through Slew. Cresswell found time and space in the visitors box to tee up the 18-year-old, who fired home a deflected drive from close range. And United were again celebrating on 70 minutes as Cresswell tapped home Matthew Lowton's low cross to seal the win.
