Match Preview

Iron trio set to return Scunthorpe boss Alan Knill looks set to restore Sam Togwell, Damien Mozika and Chris Dagnall to his starting line-up for the game with Leyton Orient. Knill chose to rest the trio on Tuesday when the Iron were knocked out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy after a 1-0 defeat to Oldham. Centre-back Niall Canavan is back in training and could be available after recovering from an ankle injury which has kept him sidelined for five weeks. On-loan midfielder Oliver Norwood is unavailable as he has been called up to the Northern Ireland senior squad. Defender Paul Reid has been told by a specialist that he will miss four weeks with a broken nose, but Scunthorpe's physio thinks he will be available sooner. Right-back Cliff Byrne (back) has returned to training but is unlikely to feature while Jimmy Ryan (knee), Michael Collins (tendonitis), Jordan Robertson (broken foot), Josh Lillis (knee) are all out. Jamie Cureton is pushing to start for Leyton Orient. The striker returned from a month on the sidelines with a groin injury as a substitute against Preston last weekend, and then scored for the reserves at Tottenham in midweek. But boss Russell Slade may opt to stick with the starting line-up which secured Orient's first win of the season at the 11th attempt. Full-back Charlie Daniels and midfielder Jimmy Smith missed out against Preston with thigh problems and remain doubtful. Lee Butcher continues in goal as Ben Alnwick (groin), Jamie Jones and David Button (both shoulder) are still sidelined, while striker Jonathan Tehoue is not expected back until December due to a broken wrist.

Match Report

Orient off the bottom with win Leyton Orient dragged themselves off the foot of the League One table as they came from behind early in the second half to beat Scunthorpe 3-2. It was a second successive win for the Londoners and the second time they have done it having conceding first. Orient looked full of confidence in the early stages against a Scunthorpe side struggling again this season for home form. Dean Cox missed a great chance to put the visitors in front before former Orient loanee Andy Barcham opened the scoring for Scunthorpe after 31 minutes with a right-footed shot from the edge of the penalty area. It was tough luck on Russell Slade`s side but they almost levelled when a deflected shot from midfielder Matt Spring was tipped over at full stretch by keeper Sam Johnstone. There were only 45 second-half seconds on the clock when striker Kevin Lisbie raced through the home defence to squeeze a shot under Johnstone for the equaliser. Five minutes later he struck again to put Orient in front with a free header from a cross from skipper Steven Dawson. Centre-back Scott Cuthbert looked to have wrapped the game up for the visitors when he took advantage of some more sloppy home defending to make it 3-1 in the 68th minute, heading home a free-kick from Charlie Daniels. But just a minute later Barcham gave Scunthorpe some hope when he forced home his second of the game following a corner. That set up a tense finish with the home side pressing strongly, but they could not find an equaliser as the O`s defended with great resolution.
