Match Preview

Johnstone worry for Iron Scunthorpe are sweating on the fitness of Sam Johnstone ahead of the home clash against high-flying Huddersfield. The goalkeeper, on-loan from Manchester United, missed Saturday's goalless draw with MK Dons due to a dislocated finger and assistant manager Chris Brass confirmed the 18-year-old will be assessed before being included in the squad to face the Terriers. "We've got to wait on what the medical people say before we an make a decision," Brass told the club's official website. If Johnstone is once again ruled out, Sam Slocombe is in pole position to keep hold of the number one jersey for a second successive game after keeping a clean sheet at the stadium:mk. Midfielder Damien Mozika could also miss out after he was absent from the trip to face Karl Robinson's side due to an ankle problem. Huddersfield will be without suspended defender Callum Woods when they bid to extend their unbeaten league run to 40 matches. Woods picked up his fifth yellow card of the season during Saturday's home win over Preston and will serve a one-game ban, so Gary Naysmith is expected to make only his sixth start of the season at left-back. Midfielder Oscar Gobern is struggling with a knock sustained last week in training and is still rated doubtful, but apart from goalkeeper Alex Smithies, a long-term absentee after knee surgery, manager Lee Clark has no other new injury or suspension problems. Striker Lee Novak is hoping for a recall up front alongside Jordan Rhodes after starting the last two games on the substitutes' bench, while midfielder Donal McDermott, left out altogether in recent matches, is pressing his claim for a place in the squad.

Match Report

Bennett spares Terriers blushed Huddersfield stretched their unbeaten league run to 40 games in a thrilling 2-2 draw at Scunthorpe. But they had to come from behind to achieve it - and also needed two penalty saves by goalkeeper Ian Bennett to rescue them from defeat. It was Scunthorpe who struck first after 10 minutes with a spectacular effort from midfield man Oliver Norwood, who thundered a 30-yard effort past Bennett, but Huddersfield were rewarded with a 25th-minute equaliser from Tommy Miller, who found the top corner from 25 yards. Scunthorpe who missed the chance to go back in front in the 36th minute when striker Chris Dagnall saw his penalty turned away by Bennett after he had been brought down in the box by Antony Kay. The game continued to swing from end to end in the second half and it took a good save by Slocombe to prevent Alan Lee nudging Huddersfield in front. Scunthorpe who had another golden chance to snatch victory in the 73rd minute when referee Eddie Ilderton pointed to the spot again for a challenge by Peter Clarke on Dagnall. This time Michael O'Connor stepped up to take the spot kick, only to see it brilliantly kept out by Bennett. Rhodes seemed to have snatched victory for Town when he vollyed them in frongt from close range after 86 minutes with his ninth goal in the last four games. But two minutes later Dagnall broke into the box to rescue a deserved point for Scunthorpe.
