Match Preview

Millers miss skipper Rotherham will be missing skipper Ryan Cresswell when they host Northampton. The centre-half missed Saturday's win at Crewe with a recurring back problem and he is not expected to be fit for the visit of the Cobblers. Tom Newey will serve a one-match ban following his fifth caution of the season so Jamie Green will fill in at left-back. Boss Ronnie Moore is hoping to have better news in the goalkeeping department with the potential return of number one Andy Warrington. Warrington has missed the last two games following the birth of his daughter, who since suffered complications, but he trained with the squad on Monday and Moore must decide whether to hand him an instant recall or keep faith with Jamie Annerson. Moore has no fresh injury concerns to contend with and has been boosted by the return to training of Dale Tonge, who has recovered from a metatarsal injury suffered in pre-season. Northampton will be without Liam Davis. The left-back was sent-off in the ninth minute of Saturday`s 4-1 thrashing at lowly Barnet - the Cobblers' fifth red card in the last nine games - and serves a one-match ban. Veteran Marcus Hall will come back into the side as a ready-made replacement while manager Ian Sampson will have striker Leon McKenzie available. McKenzie scored at Underhill but was replaced at the break as Sampson saved his legs for the trip to the Don Valley Stadium. Sampson may be forced to make changes in midfield after playing for 80 minutes with 10 men so Kevin Thornton, Paul Rodgers and Michael Jacobs could all come in. Striker Tadhg Purcell is out for the rest of the season with serious knee ligament damage.

Match Report

Quick-fire Cobblers peg back Millers Rotherham had to settle for another disappointing home draw after throwing away a two-goal lead to finish up 2-2 against Northampton. The Millers could not have made a better start, going 2-0 up after 19 minutes, but they were pegged back by two goals in a minute. Rotherham were ahead after only three minutes. Nick Fenton's long, headed clearance was flicked on by Adam Le Fondre to Ryan Taylor, who turned his man on the edge of the penalty area and lifted his shot over Chris Dunn. In the 19th minute, Marcus Marshall put the home side two up. His first shot was blocked but the ball went up in the air and was then headed out straight to Marshall who hit a first time shot past Dunn. But Northampton pulled a goal back in the 23rd minute when Ryan Gilligan's hard, low free kick was turned in by Abdul Osman, and it took Town less than a minute to add a second. They won the ball from the re-start and Gilligan's pass picked out Andy Holt inside the area, leaving him with only the goalkeeper to beat. By comparison, the second half was pretty tame. Northampton had the best chance to win it when McKenzie was clean through but he shot straight at goalkeeper Jamie Annerson.
