Rotherham United made it five league wins on the bounce, seven league games unbeaten and ten in all competitions, with a deserved win over Accrington Stanley.

Midfielder Mark Hudson claimed the only goal of the game when he converted Stephen Brogan's fine right-wing cross in the second half.

But in all truth, the Millers should have added to Hudson's 51st minute winner through further chances for Hudson himself, striker Chris O'Grady and goal provider Brogan.

It had been a quiet opening half, in which the visitors looked the better side, but didn't have too many chances.

Brogan was actually guilty of fluffing the best opportunity when he spooned over a Hudson cross from inside the six-yard box.

It was actually a carbon copy of the goal that eventually won the game.

Stanley striker Roscoe D'Sane wasted their best opportunity of the game in just the second minute when he was put clear and scuffed his shot straight at goalkeeper Andy Warrington.

Millers' boss Mark Robins made a crucial half-time change that proved to be the game breaker, because his substitute Ryan Taylor was at the heart of most things good about the visitors' play.

The hosts tried their best to get back into the game, but Rotherham, instead of sitting back to protect their lead, actually upped the tempo of their play, attempting to kill the game off.

And that was when they had all their chances, with their target man O'Grady having the best of them when he saw his right-foot shot tipped on to the post by home keeper Ian Dunbavin.

On-loan midfielder Swansea midfielder Ian Craney then had Stanley's best chance for parity when his 25-yard curling effort looked goalbound, but Warrington was there to impressively hold on.

Although Stanley are still handily placed to make a charge for the play-offs, they will need to improve their worrying home form.

The men from East Lancashire have only won three games at the Fraser Eagle Stadium this campaign.
